Pesah
Traditionally one studies the Song of Songs. There is discussion of the apparent allegory about the love affair between God and the Jewish people during the sacred Holiday of Passover, and why Rabbi Akivah referred to the text as the Holy of Holies.

Rabbi Sklarz Hosts Passover Seders From the Greenwich Patch
|
|

Let all who are hungry...for food, for friendship, for spiritual connection, sit at our table!
"We are gathered here tonight to join as one congregational family, recalling the exodus of our people from Egypt and their quest to be a free people," said Rabbi Andrew R. Sklarz, MSW, spiritual leader of Greenwich Reform Synagogue. In a rather unconventional venue for a communal seder, Rabbi Sklarz and his wife Susan welcomed more than 30 congregants and guests, from ages 2 weeks to 91 years of age, into their home this past Monday night for the first night of Passover. The Rabbi also held a seder for some 20 additional congregants and guests at his home on the second night of the holiday. Taking elements from both traditional and modern sources, Rabbi Sklarz compiled a most contemporary Haggadah (a narration of the exodus along with readings and ceremonial traditions) which focuses upon the commandment to compassionately reach out to all of God's children in order to bring Shalom - wholeness, into the world. "Nobody should ever be alone on Passover - or ever feel isolated or alienated from others, and we are always honored to open our home," said Rabbi Sklarz.
Rabbi Sklarz also hosted a Seder for the upper grades of the Stanwich School on Tuesday. "The themes of Passover are indeed universal. They call upon us to create a fellowship with all people and to work together for healing in every realm of human existence. May we all come to understand what it truly means to share and be free."

So along with 14 lively discussions, this year we present six live performances- including singers, dancers, and the comedian David Steinberg, with his new stand-up show. Many of these events sell out quickly, so get your tickets soon and don't get sold out! Special Event Just Added! Author Eric Goldman joins us for a special evening of film clips and discussion of his book The American Jewish Story Through Cinema, Mon. April 22 at 7:30 pm.
