The Top Shelf is expanding to Baton Rouge to support the work of New Schools for Baton Rouge and the Baton Rouge Achievement Zone. In partnership with the Baton Rouge Area Chamber and Baton Rouge Area Foundation, LAPCS will host a breakfast for the business community to learn about engagement opportunities with charter school boards.

Jonah Evans was unanimously elected to the Bricolage Academy board because of his enthusiasm for and commitment to Bricolage's mission and vision. He jumped right in and helped recruit students even before the board considered his candidacy. Claims and lawsuits arising from employment disputes are draining school resources and creating morale problems for many charter schools. Why is it critically important to communicate and document an employee's shortcomings? Actual school cases will be used to illustrate the importance of effective personnel management. Learn from an expert how to minimize exposure to legal liability for preventable mistakes. In addition to board members, this session is open to school leaders or human resources personnel.

Michelle Craig joined Adams and Reese in 2007 and serves on the Labor and Employment team. Her representative clients include schools, fast food companies, offshore companies, home improvement retailers, entrepreneurs and other small businesses. In addition to her labor and employment experience, Michelle has practiced in the areas of commercial litigation and products liability. She has also represented large companies in claims such as breach of contract, warranty, fraud, failure to pay claims or make a tender, negligent misrepresentations and alter ego.
