Veteran's Day is designated to honor all American veterans for their dedicated and loyal service to our country. It is a day set aside for Americans to reach out and express to all veterans and their families that we deeply appreciate the sacrifices they make every day to protect our country and our way of life.
As a military veteran and National Director of Heroes on the Water, I am in touch with veterans from all branches of military service on a daily basis. I am moved by their love of our country and dedication to serve at all costs, recognizing the ultimate cost as being the loss of life, greatly impacting the surviving family. Many of our returning veterans are suffering the loss of limbs, Post Traumatic Stress, and/or Traumatic Brain Injury, causing major challenges affecting reintegration into society, stress in family relationships, and employment and financial difficulties.
Despite all the challenges, as I interact with our military men and women, I am humbled by their amazing attitudes and steadfast determination to get back up and running. I am compelled to rally Americas to do all we can do to help them and their families experience some sense of normalcy in their lives, relieved of the stresses of combat.
Heroes on the Water is extremely proud to be helping our veterans and their families realize a sense of calmness and enjoyment through kayak fishing. We are committed to making a difference...we hope you will join with us.
Sincerely,

On October 27, 2012, heroes from across the country were honored at Sky Ball X held at DFW Airport.. Marine Eric Calley was one of those heroes.
As I walked around talking to our great heroes, our military men and women who no matter life or limb would put their country; and our humanity as we know it before all else. It touched me in a way I have never experienced before, an emotional sense of patriotism that made me feel like all our sacrifices; and hardships were worth every drop of blood, every drop of sweat and every tear we have shed over the last decade. We met great American citizens creating that Unity in society to focus on helping our Military Veterans transition to society. Great people like Jim Dolan, who through recreational therapy and Heroes on the Water creates an atmosphere of comfort and tranquility for the disabled Veteran to be at one with oneself. Helping those create happiness within and spark in their soul to allow the Veteran to heal, as well as to be the person they once were before they went to war. The amount of priceless honor and dedication to our Veterans showed an example of American "exceptionalism" that the rest of America should emulate. American Airlines earned a new respect, a respect that not only myself; but the Marines and public as well, for having the dedication and core values we honor so true by assisting in our Veterans to transition and get the care we need to be successful and heal from our wounds. The Fight Continues wants to recognize American Airlines as well as every person who helped make the American Airlines Sky Ball possible. Semper Fidelis.
