Another tax season has come and gone. For 2013, 2-1-1 handled 517 requests for VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance). Working with the Piton Foundation, 2-1-1 connects people with a yearly gross income of $49,000 and below with free tax preparation. For those families/individuals who count on their tax refund to "catch up" on their monthly bills, not having to pay for tax preparation is vital. Using a tax service can cost hundreds of dollars, money those in need simply can't afford to spend. In addition, almost all VITA sites are able to file returns electronically which speeds up the process allowing for a faster refund which in turn, makes it unnecessary to apply for a RAL (Refund Anticipation Loan). These loans are costly, often upwards of several hundred dollars.
2-1-1 is proud to partner with the Piton Foundation and work with the agencies in our service area to provide this important service to our community.
CLIENT SATISFACTION SURVEY
The survey asks 7 questions and asks each person to rate their experience on a scale from 1 to 5, with 1 being the least satisfied and 5 being completely satisfied for 6 of those. Additionally, the final question measures the percentage of those who used the referrals given to them during their initial 2-1-1 call.
