BEST PRACTICES
(for living it forward, incorporation, surviving out there, being your truth) 
 
Ask for help from your community when you need it.
Build a purpose circle somewhere you can return to.
Recognize the movement.
Go onto the land and do ceremony.
Rhythms: something you do every day, week, month.
Write it down, set intentions, share with proactive clear agreements.
Sing!!!
Invite people to a fire.
Share victories.
Join the self-acknowledgement club:  mention what you've done!
Lie against the earth and breathe.
Recognize that when your gifts become familiar,
they're being incorporated - not lost.
Treat yourself like a precious newborn baby.
Practice gratitude.
Renewal fasts and medicine walks.
Renewal of friendship amongst this circle.
Attention to dreams; sit with them.
Remember the practice of so many grandmothers in giving thanks for the first contact with water each day.
Clean the car, clear out the closet.

Forgiveness/daily practice.
Once in a while break your own rules, delight in your own perfection.
Once in a while just stop everything.
Hang out with children.
Cultivate allies.
Watch the stars.
Make art.
Move your body with determination.
Place your intention on your fridge and let it feed you.
Turn into the skid:  find a way to be with it, let it move; explore your "opposite," that which you think you would not.
Laugh your ass off.
Visit a cemetery, funeral, or landfill.
Pause before you eat, thanks.
Take a technology vacation.
Have interspecies conversations.
Talk to the creator of all that is.
Invite your ancestors in.
Do something for someone else.
Be willing to make a boundary and say who's not invited.
Be willing to make a fool of yourself.
Visit a family member without any expectations.
Find the sacred everywhere:  the mall, las vegas, the subway.
Tend to your wounds, don't pick at them.
Balance self-inquiry with the understanding that life is right anyway
(no mistakes).
Contemplate your death.
Don't assume people won't understand.
Take time to cook.  Cook for others.
Rewrite/review your notes.
Make a personal map of non-negotiables.
Turn big dreams into step by step action plans.
Get naked. Sit in water.
Smudge yourself.
Celebrate your gifts.
Feed that which bedevils you.
Play with time - make round calendars.
Get up in the middle of the night and go outside.
Learn something new about the land, species, plants, first people.
