2014 Winter Solstice
Dear Lost Borders Friends,
2014 has been an amazing year for us.  With your incredible response to our global fund drive, that not just met but exceeded our original goal, and the added blessing of a generous grant from the Kalliopeia Foundation to expand the school's youth offerings we find ourselves called out to carry the ceremony beyond our borders in more then one way.

You made it possible for the school to offer 31 scholarships this year, and thanks to your donations several of our staff were able to attend international events such as the new story summit in Findhorn or the International Guides Gathering in South Africa.  We hope to share some details of our international adventures with you in our next newsletter.  And, we were able to secure funds for Meredith to travel to the Czech Republic next year and support the emerging work there.

We are deeply grateful that you are part of this community. Thank you for all the ways in which you are feeding the ceremony.  May this darkest night birth a new light, soft and tender, like any newborn, and may we hold it close, and nurse it with our good hearts, daring to dream it into being, to bring about another spring.

From all of us at Lost Borders

Solstice Give-Away
Recently, Meredith shared one of Steven's old songs with our staff, a song that had just serendipitously returned to her after so many years by way of Stephan Straub from Germany who trained with the school some years back.  "I am standing on the mountain" was a song that came to Steven on fast and was also later on used in Europe by Meredith.  Apparently, a musician named Martin began using it in his work with kids in nature, adding a second verse of his own and eventually recording it.

We've added some pictures to the sound track, some historical ones from Steven's era, and some new ones, from events and programs of this year so that your eyes can join your ears in enjoying this simple song as it keeps on giving.
