"As  a community of believers, we seek God's guidance
and direction through prayer in all that we do
as a church and in all aspects of our daily lives."

Prayer is the first of Central's six core values.

TODAY'S the day!
The 24 Seven Prayer Room Opens In Mesa
It's LIVE!

Prayer takes Central's spotlight today in 10 stations filled with exciting, thought-provoking, active, contemplative ideas and instructions on how to pray through "Prayers from the Bible," this year's theme.

For about a month now, Central has challenged members and guests to commit one hour to prayer at the 24 Seven Prayer Room. This room will travel to all five campuses by November 15, beginning today, November 1st in Mesa's Chapel.

Spaces about 8-feet by 10-feet, shaped by pipe and drape, open to one or two pray-ers at a time, will invite Central people to come and pray in new and exciting ways for just one hour. For some, it will be the first time they have ever prayed more than two minutes. For many, it will be a closer time devoted to our Lord than their busy schedules have allowed since last year's 24 Seven. Central members have developed and designed the stations.

Trusting the Holy Spirit will move powerfully through the Prayer Room as He has in the past years, time in the Prayer Room will spark in many a hunger and love of God and prayer they have never known before.

Favorite stories over nearly 10 years of 24 Seven include:

The man who came only to win over the girlfriend who demanded he get more into church if they were going to continue dating. He came; she forgot. He said he got the better part of the deal, having that hour with God instead of her. He's a member of Central now.

The 11-year-old girl whose parents' divorce was final days before we opened the first time in Gilbert. She and her mom moved into a house nearby and they stopped in to see why cars were coming all night long. When she left, the blog she wrote said, "I just lost one dad, but tonight I found another. Thank you."

The guy who got talked into coming even though he KNEW he couldn't pray a whole hour. So, he planned to talk to the security guy for 15 minutes, and then the host or hostess for another 15 minutes, and then he could take a pit stop, and then he'd only have a few minutes left in his hour. Once he started through the stations, he didn't look at his watch once and left two hours later - in love with prayer and time with his Lord!

Is Online as Well As Live!

Pray-ers at Central have the convenience of joining in "Prayers from the Bible," this year's 24 Seven Prayer theme, through two very different venues again this year.

For those who can't get to any of the campuses when the live Prayer Room with 10 walk-in stations will be there, the online version is available anywhere there is internet connection and a computer, any time from today to the end of the year. Just click here to go to the 24 Seven Prayer page and access the 24/7 Online Experience to start praying.

Central offered the Online 24 Seven Prayer for the first time last year, to the delight of more than 200 viewer/pray-ers.

Though the theme is the same, the prayer experience in these two venues will be quite different.  Online pray-ers can join in their jammies, on sleepless nights, from other countries or states.

Last year, many of the 200 who did the Online version also did the live prayer room, and said they appreciated both.

Don't let distance, illness, business travel, no babysitter, a broken down car, or any other glitch keep you from joining in this exciting prayer event! Go online and pray at your convenience!  Click here to go to the 24/7 Online Experience

One Of The Best Schools Of Prayer Yet

By Paul Covert

One hundred ten of us gathered in the Mesa chapel to listen to Andrew D teach on the subject of prayer. He taught us to pray based on our positions of authority. All of us have positions of authority but we don't often think to pray from those positions.

  • We can pray from the position and with the authority of a son or daughter.
  • We can pray as a friend of God or as a father or mother for our children or as spiritual fathers or mothers to those we are encouraging in the faith.
  • We can pray as warriors in God's army.

Andrew's list was extensive and most helpful. I think you can see that there are lots of places from which to pray and much authority to draw upon. Praying in this way seems to make prayer easier.

What was so helpful about Andrew's teaching was its clarity and practicality. I started praying from different positions of authority as soon as the school was over and continue to use what I have learned.

If you have never attended a School of Prayer let me encourage you to do so. They are usually once a quarter and they always teach new and practical ways to pray. They are free but we take a love offering to cover expenses.

You can attend 50 schools of prayer and not get the same teaching because we mix it up.

Plan to attend our next School of Prayer on February 8, 2015 at Central's Gilbert Campus.  Registration will be up soon so SAVE THE DATE!

For updates go to www.CentralAZ.com/Prayer . You will be glad you did.

Ministry Spotlight:

"Why Should I Pray On The UpTeam Anyway?"

Ministry growth, breakthroughs, and perseverance are among the many reasons we as followers of Christ should pray. How sad would it be if we didn't pray over the spiritual, emotional, and physical well-being of others and for those leading and supporting ministries of faith like global workers, often persecuted for their faith in Christ?

When the UpTeam, which stands for "Uninterrupted Prayer," was developed back in 2004, the vision was to bring together a team of believers that would be committed to praying for the needs of ministry staff and global workers at Central.

"The Christian that is bound by his own horizon, the church that lives simply for itself, is bound to die a spiritual death and sink into stagnancy and corruption." - A.B. Simpson

The church cannot live for itself, and we are all called to be involved in His Kingdom work for those who are missing Christ. Likewise, each one of us is obligated to be faithful in praying to God who we rely upon to move on behalf of others.

Through UpTeam, we have a unique way to be involved with those who are ministering to others who have not yet heard the Good News. God in all is glory chose to make us "Christ's ambassadors" (2 Corinthians 5:20) and co-workers in His Kingdom. Together, we have an opportunity to be involved in His work through prayer, and share in the blessing.

Among the many ministries prayed over by the UpTeam are prayer requests from global workers who are encouraged by the prayers coming from UpTeam pray-ers. Global workers are often persecuted for their faith and they need our prayers for the conflicts they often face while overseas.

Recently, a global worker shared with Paul Covert that he was persecuted for 62 days because of his faith when he was overseas. He recounted how he and his friends were arrested for sharing their faith in Christ. One of his friends was killed. We can only imagine the persecution he and his friends endured.

Prayer for them and for those who lead and support the ministries at Central is crucial. They are our fellow workers for the Kingdom and they deserve our support. This is why we pray on the UpTeam.
