My Perspective on the 2014 Prayer Conference
By Paul Covert

It was exciting to worship with 1246 others at the Prayer Conference. The place was rockin' and you could feel the energy in the room. I found myself mindful of the size and quality of the team it takes to pull off an event like this and how well they worked together. I don't think you would find anyone who did not sense that God was in this series and conference in a very special way.

Mark is a really great guy. He is backstage just as he is on stage. He is friendly, kind, willing to comply with whatever the needs are and joyful.   His humility greeted us from the moment he began to speak. He asserted, "My prayer batting average is no better than yours." That is quite a humble statement for someone who has written a book on prayer that has sold one million copies.

Three things ministered to me personally from the conference and weekend services:

Alone With God In The Desert

"O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is..." (KJV)

These are David's words to God from Psalm 63:1 when he was in the desert of Edom seeking to be refreshed by God.

What can the true Christian do in the earliest morning hour but devote himself to prayer to the God of all creation. Only He can help us awaken each morning to righteousness. But our daily routines can hinder us from time spent alone with God in prayer and contemplation. If your normal routine has gotten in the way, then this option may be for you.

Time Alone with God is an opportunity for you to spend some time with God in prayer, reading and reflection as we head for Usery Mountain Range and/or South Mountain Range on the second Saturday of the cooler months.

Coming up on March 8th you'll have a chance to join us:

Life Coaching Series 3 of 3

By Kevin Sieling

Late in October, Paul Covert approached me and asked if I would be interested in doing Called to Obedience (CTO). I think he realized quickly he was talking to a skeptical guy, but he assured me that it would be a very personalized ministry where I would be partnered with a Life Coach who would help me walk on a journey to develop a greater love for God. Paul reassured me that CTO would present a clear path, as well as some tools and guidance to help me implement various biblical principles in my daily life.  Paul is a pretty astute guy. He obviously saw a need or a desire in me to undertake this journey. We began the first week of November and now it's already February. One hundred days have passed and I honestly need to give Paul some major kudos. Not only was he correct in his initial perception of my need, he was keenly aware of the type of Life Coach I would need to feel comfortable with, to open up to, and my hope, to develop a friendship for life.

CTO has provided a very practical application of biblical truth, a truth that should be lived out in our relationship with God and others. As suggested, our time together has helped me discover areas where I have made excuses to not live out the gospel and hinder my obedience to biblical principles.

April 19 & 20, 2014: Easter Intercession Breakthrough

How do breakthroughs happen? According to Mathew 7:7, it has to do with asking, seeking and knocking. Asking God, seeking God and knocking until God opens up a door of mercy are the means for obtaining what we need from God according to His will.

Praying for breakthroughs in the lives of others is also His will. We can find strength and support in each other as we pray for God to move in our lives. Christ himself intercedes for us and when two or three are gathered in His name, He is there in the midst (Matthew 18:23).

What if 300 were gathered in the name of Jesus to intercede?

Wouldn't that be a powerful time of prayer?

300 For Easter is a bold vision for what the brethren can do in intercession at the Easter services on April 19 & 20 at all Central campuses.

Join us to intercede for those attending Easter services. Come by yourself, with a friend, your spouse, your life group or your family. Registration is coming soon! Come practice what you've learned.

Bakersfield, CA: In February an invitation was issued to join in a community-wide prayer effort for rain. Football Coach Ordered to Stop Leading Prayers

It seems that when a person is in any kind of publically funded organization, there is always the risk of a legal challenge when it comes to saying a prayer associated with the Christian faith. Recently, a football coach at Mooresville High School was ordered to stop praying with the team. Many mainstream media outlets have covered this story: Read an article at charlotte.cbslocal.
