How to Assess the Balance
in Your Prayer Life

Many of you will know Dean Trune.  He has spoken at our School of Prayer many times.  He runs a ministry called Intentional Life Impact Ministries and coaches and mentors people

from all across the United States.

This tool is designed to see how balanced your prayer life is.   Are you praying too much about one thing and not praying for others?  Take the assessment below and score yourself in each area.  Then add up your scores.

Now step back and look at your responses.  Are there some areas you are particularly weak in and need additional attention given to them?  Use this tool to identify those areas. (Click on the picture for a full size version.)

Prayer Life Assessment Tool by Dean Trune

A score of 40 would be a balanced prayer approach.... What does your score reveal?

Maybe now would be a good time to sign up for the next school of prayer.   You can register on line here.

Mesa LIFT

Time between one worship service on a weekend and the one the next weekend can feel like a long, spiritual wilderness.  Essential is a lift into the Lord's presence again mid-week, and that's why the Prayer Ministry offers LIFT on Thursday nights in Mesa.

By mid-week, Rick Safriet, the Campus Prayer Leader for Mesa's worship services each weekend, said he needs to "rejuvenate" in God's presence and come together with other believers to be able to finish the week well before weekend worship again.

"I look forward to the weekly meeting on Thursday because I feel lifted when I pray together with fellow believers in agreement, standing on God's Word and promises," said Chi Chi Chikwelu, a Thursday night regular.

Prayer is a passion for her. She appreciates that we take to the Lord prayers concerning the nation, Church (both Central and world-wide), fellow believers, current world events, and the whole scope of what Paul Covert and Cathy Cryer call "Kingdom prayers," touching matters well beyond the walls of the room where LIFT participants meet to pray.  Read More Here!

Kids Camp UCYC

By Nathan Stang

This year God did amazing things with our kids at United Christian Youth Camp in Prescott, AZ. Our prayer on the children's team was to completely fill camp and God provided in big ways! We ended up taking 260 4-6th grade students, which completely maxed out their facilities! In addition, we took along 34 servant ministers who served on the front lines of discipleship, leading our kids all week!

Camp is a truly amazing ministry. It gives our kids a chance to escape the pressures and distractions back home and spend a week completely focused on God and what He has in store for them. Throughout the week our children are challenged through the preaching of God's Word, and they get to apply what they learn to their own lives as they discuss it together in their small groups. On top of all of that, they are surrounded by great adult leaders who cover them in prayer and model for them Christ's love! Of course, there is also plenty of fun had as well! Our kids were divided up into color teams who competed all week in various games and challenges to earn points for their teams! They also went through a rotation schedule every day that included activities such as archery, swimming, zip lining, and The Screamer - a giant rope swing!

The biggest reason camp is such an amazing ministry is because of the lives it changes every summer. It is amazing what God can do with a 4th, 5th, or 6th grader when they have time to focus on Him! Our biggest prayer is that our kids will make decisions for Jesus, and come to know Him better, and of course God provided in that way as well! We had 50 kids commit their life to Christ for the first time this summer, and on top of that we even had 4 who declared their desire to go into ministry! God is good!

PRAYER AND PRAISE ON A TIGHTROPE

You can pray anywhere, and praying while walking on tightrope suspended 1,500 ft above the bottom of the Grand Canyon is as good a place as any.  As Nik Wallenda made his daring high wire walk, he made it clear that he has great faith in Jesus-he was praying and praising Him nearly every step of the way. Watch the interview and read all about it at the huffingtonpost.com (be sure to scroll down beyond the comments to view the video).  You can also read more at Washingtonpost.com.

PEW RESEARCH POLL: WHAT AMERICANS BELIEVE ABOUT SCHOOL PRAYER

In the wake of the 50-year anniversary of the Supreme Court ruling that proclaimed school prayer was unconstitutional, most Americans believe that efforts against prayer in public schools have "...gone too far."
