Central Teams Cover Promise Keepers in Prayer:
I Could Not be Prouder!
By Paul Covert - Central Prayer Pastor
Nearly 5,000 men recently attended a Promise Keepers event at Grand Canyon University, Phoenix, and Central's Prayer Team provided much of the prayer coverage at the event.
It is hard to believe, but I am in my tenth year as prayer pastor at Central Christian Church. Along the way, there have been some great days and some not so good. During the Promise Keepers weekend, I had two more great days!
Central was asked to lead the Prayer Booth for those men who wanted prayer after each main session. Fourteen men of varied ages and backgrounds responded to the call to pray for others and, as a team, knocked it out of the park. As is the case with many events, we were faced with many challenges, but the team remained undaunted. They more than fulfilled the expectations placed on them, and made me very proud.
Cathy Cryer also led a team of women who volunteered for the job of pre-event prayer coverage. They came from Mesa, Gilbert, Queen Creek and Ahwatukee campuses. As they walked the grounds before any of the men arrived on Friday afternoon, they prayed for those who were coming to the event, the speakers, planners, all things technological, and for the safety and impact of the weekend. They returned Saturday morning once again to pray for the men and the event and God's will to be done in it all. Since the event started early, some of the women had to get up extremely early to be able to arrive before the event became crowded. They did a wonderful job and I was very proud of them.
It is fun to lead and be a part of a ministry that understands the
value of prayer. To all of you in the Central Prayer Ministries, you are a treat to serve with. And to those of you who went the extra mile last weekend, you rock!

Nations Gather for Prayer
in Ahwatukee Hallway
By Cathy Cryer,
Prayer Pastor serving Ahwatukee
Intercessory prayer with other believers always is a powerful privilege, but the experience ramped up even more significantly one Sunday several weeks ago in Ahwatukee.
Paul and I make a point of intentionally inviting others to come and join us in intercessory prayer which continues throughout all worship services at all Central campuses. So, on this particular Sunday, it was not surprising to see some new faces gathered in the chairs circled in the narrow hallway outside the Mountain Pointe High School Auditorium where Ahwatukee services are conducted every Sunday.
As we introduced ourselves around the circle, we had two men and one female pastor, all born and raised in the United States and in the faith, though we may have walked away from it for a while, but the rest were people from vastly different corners of the world and walks of faith.
Another person came from a family where Mom was Scandinavian and Dad was Jewish and many of her family on Dad's side still do not understand the Messiah has come.
Still another pray-er that day came to America from China. Read More Here.

Called To Obedience Prayer Team's recent Life Coaching class based on Called to Obedience (CTO) materials opened the eyes of new as well as former students. The Prayer Ministry periodically will offer this Life Coaching class format to engage participants in a new level of obedience to Christ. Usually, Life Coaching happens one-on-one in a mentoring setting, using the CTO materials as the foundation for study and discussion. Participants commit to working individually with a Life Coach for 26 weeks, and to be a Life Coach for someone else once they complete the program. Since there is a waiting list of people wanting this Life Coaching, however, the Prayer Team decided to offer a class format to expand the learning for current participants as well as provide materials for those still waiting. National Day of Prayer
Three different Central venues and the World Wide Web offered a variety of opportunities for our members and guests to join together in prayer for our country this National Day of Prayer, May 2.
In the Gilbert Worship Center Lobby, Prayer Pastor Paul Covert and Brad Dahlman, Queen Creek campus Prayer Leader, directed prayers beginning at 7 p.m.
In the Mesa Starting Point Room, Cathy Cryer led prayers.
In Glendale, Mike Fleming, campus Prayer Leader, had set up the Lobby to welcome anyone to come and pray in the Worship Center from 2 to 7 p.m.
Life Groups and individuals joined in the prayers through the internet blast of requests sent out by the Prayer Ministry for prayer for our nation.
Thanks to all of you who took the time on that intentional day to lift prayers for our country. Please keep them coming!
