IMPROVING PRAYER IN YOUR LIFE GROUP

Six Reasons you should attend the next School of Prayer:

1)      The topic is very practical and promises to be most helpful for your Life Group experience.

2)      You know your group could use some new insights in this area.

3)      We will be previewing an eight- week curriculum on Prayer that is ready to go.  This material  can be taught to your life group by one of our experts in prayer at no expense to you.

4)      You will meet other people who love to pray and make some great connections.

5)      We will honor Cathy for her service to the Prayer Ministry in the Mesa SOP.

6)      The food is always out of this world.

"What can I do to help my Life Group get more comfortable with prayer?" This question is posed to Paul and Cathy almost every week. Through the years, the Prayer Team has developed several techniques that help. This School of Prayer, we want to share those tried and tested methods with you.

Session One: How do I get my Life Group to pray and enjoy it?

Session Two: Teaching my Life Group to listen to God.

Session Three: Teaching my Life Group various exercises to make prayer fun!

Session Four:  Andy Moore has developed a curriculum on prayer for Life Groups, and he will be teaching one of those sessions.

Session Five:  We will honor Cathy as she retires and moves to volunteer staff at Central in the Prayer Ministry.  She has been more than faithful, so come to the School of Prayer and wish her well.

When*: Sunday, February 17, in the Mesa Chapel
Sunday, February 24, in the Gilbert Student Center
             Sunday, February 24, in Glendale
Time: 2 to 6 p.m.

*Please note the locations were printed in reverse order last month. We apologize for the discrepancy. The above dates and locations are accurate.

Each year at Easter, the Prayer Team recognizes the importance and impact of Easter worship services for reaching those who don't yet know the Lord. Many are invited by family and friends to attend Central's worship services, and that's a huge opportunity for prayer!

This year, our goal is to pack the Prayer Rooms on all five campuses during all worship services with a total of 135 pray-ers, intentionally praying that all our guests would clearly hear the message, open their hearts to the Lord, and turn their lives over to Him.

An experienced Prayer Intercessor will lead the prayers in each Prayer Room, so novices need not be concerned about how to go about it.

Can you talk with friends? Put more than two words together in a sentence? Then you can talk to the God Who is so eager for us to come to Him in prayer and is so abundant, above and beyond, in answering our prayers.

And, if you prefer, you can silently pray in agreement with those who are willing to pray out loud. That's great too!

Let us know if you are interested so you are sure to have space in the Prayer Room during the hour you want to pray. That means you would worship one service, pray one service.

If you have questions, please feel free to contact Paul.Covert@CentralAZ.com, or Cathy.Cryer@CentralAZ.com.

P.S. It's not too early to start praying now that family and friends you know have not yet accepted Christ as Lord and Savior will attend Central or another Biblically based Easter worship service this year and have ears to hear and softened hearts to get it THIS Easter! Pray about who you are going to invite and start praying for them right now!

Calling All Youth!

Since you have joined us in worship each Sunday, we are inviting you to also join us in Prayer!

There are two opportunities to grow and serve in Prayer each service:

  1. Be a Prayer Partner at the end of the service.
  2. Be an Intercessory Prayer team member during the service.

There's nothing quite as  exciting or worthwhile as having someone trust you as a Prayer Partner with a concern on their mind and heart and then be able to go with them to our gracious Lord to ask for His direction, healing, or perfect outcome to that prayer request. Sometimes, we hear back about how God answered that prayer in astounding ways and have the privilege of going to Him in praise and thanks as follow up! Sometimes Prayer Partners develop a relationship with the ones requesting prayer. Some of our Prayer Partners have been asked to baptize those requesting prayer!

On the other hand, becoming a part of the Intercessory Prayer team regularly for a particular worship service is like gaining a bonus Life Group! You get to know one another, are bonded by common prayers for Central and another particular type of prayer request, and grow in your own personal prayer life along the way! Each worship service, the Intercessors pray both for  things happening at Central, the kids, teachers, pastors, staff, worship team, and events, etc., and a particular topic taken off the Web Prayer page for that hour. In Mesa at 9 a.m., for instance, the special prayers are for families and youth, jobs and financial concerns. In Gilbert at 11:55 a.m., they are for our global field workers around the world.

There is an hour-long training for Prayer Partners, and for Intercession, plus getting a name badge to serve requires filling out an application form requiring several references.

Just showing up in the Prayer Room of any campus will be your beginning for Intercessory Prayer.

If any high school student would like to join us serving in either capacity, please contact Paul.Covert@centralaz.com or Cathy.Cryer@centralaz.com for details.

Spotlight

As Central stretches out over the Valley with more campuses, the Prayer Team has stretched and grown more leaders.

For some time, Paul and Cathy could handle leading Prayer at all worship services in Mesa, and then, even in both Mesa and Gilbert. But then there wasn't enough of them to go around.

So, today, as we have launched our fifth campus in Ahwatukee, we in Prayer have also launched five Campus Prayer Leaders:

            Rick Seifert, Mesa

            Lisa Henry, Gilbert

            Brad Dahlman, Queen Creek

            Mike Fleming, Glendale

            Cathy Cryer, Ahwatukee

If you have questions about the Prayer Ministry or have an interest in serving as a Prayer Partner or Intercessor at the campus you attend, talk to any of them about it.

Come grow with us!

Up Team Pray-ers Needed

The impact of your prayer on behalf of our staff and global workers can't be measured this side of heaven but we know that "the prayers of the saints" are held in golden bowls in heaven.  They are precious in God's sight.  We as a church could not be doing ministry like we are without you.  Your sacrifice of time and focus so others can engage in the work God has given them is so vital.

We would like to fill every opening on the Up Team so we can truly be a prayer team that functions 24/7 with no gaps.  Would you consider taking an hour of intercession that impacts eternity with us?  I will be seeking Him for you as you ask Him if you would be a good fit for this passionate place of ministry.

We only need ten new people to fill every hour; and we have some great spots available.   We can do this!

Blessings,

Sharon
