Favorite 24-7 Stories From Paul and Cathy

Each year we do a 24-7, it is my privilege to share stories that come to me from people involved with or touched by the Prayer Room. In some cases, the stations seem to take on a life of their own, moving beyond what was planned for that station, but prompted by the Holy Spirit and God's Word working on hearts and lives to change and grow and understand our Lord in new ways through that station. It's exciting to watch and now share!

The Live 24-7 Prayer Room opened at noon Saturday, Nov. 3 and closed at 10 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9. The stories are precious of how God moves in and through and uses the 24-7 Prayer Room in ways we have no way of knowing when we plan the 10 stations people encounter there to lead them into time with Him and prayer.

1.     In the station for Habakkuk, where the Prophet speaks of the trials and turmoil in life, and yet, we can rejoice in the Lord and trust Him, the 24-7 pray-ers were given the opportunity to write or draw what they are trusting the Lord for or rejoicing in Him because of all He has given or done. Many of the slips of paper showed gratitude.  Some were beautifully illustrated; some just conveyed words.  Others also conveyed the pains and trials people are going through right now that they are trusting God to provide for and protect them in the midst of such trials.  Read More Here

Life Group Creates 24-7 Station

By Pauline Garthwaite

for the Aileen Glass Life Group

Life Group Setting Up 24-7 After 24-7 Live, came this confession from a Central Life Group Member:

"Our Life Group leader likes us to get our hands dirty and to volunteer for an activity once a month," she wrote. "I have to admit, on previous occasions, I have raised my eyebrows and said, 'You want us to do what?' (I do like to stay within my comfort zone.)

"But, on this occasion, I was 'in' wholeheartedly.  Our activity for September and October was to participate as a group to take on one of the stations for the 24-7 Live Prayer Room."

The group's station was the story of Elisha and the widow whose dire need was miraculously met by olive oil from God that did not run out until all the jars she had borrowed from her neighbors had been filled (2 Kings 4:1-7).

At their first planning meeting, they chose who from the group would meet with the entire 24/7 team to plan how this station would coordinate with the other eight stations in the Prayer Room. The Life Group members also started shaping the parameters and the atmosphere to be created in their station.  Read More Here

Prayer Team Offers Life Coaching

Within the Prayer Team experience, a pattern was emerging. People ask for prayer and find how powerful it is to have others pray with and for them. When they also experience God's powerful answers in their lives, they often are moved to want to give back in some way and see that kind of change and power in all of their life.

In some cases, the issues and life choices that led them to request prayer were still lurking in their lives, though specific answers had already been accomplished by God's intervention and answers.  For some, they did not have a complete grasp on what following Christ means in day to day living.

So, Prayer sought a tool of Biblically based, prayer saturated life coaching to help people draw near to Christ and follow after Him, reflecting Him more effectively.

Paul offers this typical experience with a man who wanted to meet with him:

"I ran into a man at Ironman some time ago, and he invited me to lunch.  At our lunch, he told me that he does not feel comfortable with prayer.  He said he believed learning to pray is important and he has the desire, but he also felt the need for more.  Read More Here

Prayer to Prevent Suicide

Today's world is full of reasons to despair. The news echoes trouble and sorrow, night after night-the rough job market and bad economy, wars, crime, divorce, isolation, natural and manmade disasters, injustice, post traumatic stress-the list seems endless.  Add all that to the loneliness and emptiness that many feel during the holidays, and suicides rise. In Metropolis, Illinois, there has been an increase in suicides, and some members of the community have decided to do something about it. They are uniting in prayer and offering messages of hope. Prayer Recalled from 1950's Television Show

If you are a baby boomer or older you might remember the popular family television show, "Father Knows Best."
