Dear Friends,
"The problem with flat roofs is that they are flat!" Thus, I begin my article on maintaining flat roofs AND your sanity. Most commercial buildings on Long Island have flat roofs. (Well, almost flat. Although almost imperceptible, many are slightly pitched.) A flat roof (or nearly flat roof) means that you need to combat a never-ending battle against debris, ponding, blistering, and alligatoring.

You can read more about these issues in my article. Your sanity depends on your recognition of the nature of the beast, and as a result, being fastidious about preventative maintenance. As I explain in my article, problems with a flat roof never go away. They just get worse.

The nice spring weather that has finally returned to Long Island is the perfect time to inspect your roof for winter damage and take whatever corrective action is necessary. Please don't overlook it. It only gets more expensive!
