Hunt New Header
November 2012 Vol. 4 Issue 3

Dear Clients and Friends,

Hopefully, you are well on your way to recovery from the wrath of Sandy.  I know that many of you have much more to do and will be in my thoughts and prayers as you work towards that recovery.   At home, we are fully recovered with power and cable.  Professionally, our office never lost power and we've been  fully operational during and after the storm.  For that, I'm sincerely grateful since some of you have called upon Hunt Construction to aid you in your time of need and we were able to assist.  We can get through this together!  Give us a call if we can help.

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I sincerely wish you and your family a safe and sound holiday.

David G. Hunt

A Word from Rob Ciurleo...

The Last Month.....What a Blur!

Rob CiurleoWow!  What a blur the past month has been.  Hurricane warnings, getting ready, trees falling, power outages, cable outages, eating out, gas lines, gas rationing, and well, you know the rest.  We all have many stories to tell.

And winter hasn't even begun yet!  Perhaps, with all this distraction, you may not have been thinking about getting your commercial/office/retail property ready for winter.  The cold weather can wreak havoc on property and buildings.  The best thing you can do, like a Boy Scout, is "Be Prepared".  Here is a short checklist that you should review in preparing your building for the colder weather:

□  Parking lot:  Potholes and cracks that should be repaired before the winter.  The freezing and thawing cycle will only make existing problems worse.

□  Roof:  Make sure any cracking or damaged areas are promptly repaired.  Check your gutters and clean your roof drains, and make sure that water is not accumulating on your roof.

□  Thermostats and heating systems:  If your building is vacant, there must be enough heat to prevent sprinkler and plumbing lines from freezing.  Make sure that your HVAC systems are properly serviced.

□   Landscaping sprinklers and hose bibs:  Check the shut off valves on the hose bibs which can prevent freezing.  Make sure underground sprinkler lines are blown out and properly prepared for winter.

□  Snow removal:  Arrange service in advance, to prevent scrambling when everyone else is looking for snow removal.

□  Timers:  Change any timers to accommodate earlier darkness.   Employees need to be safe in the parking lots when they come and go!

We are experienced with all of the above.  If you need assistance, please give us a call.
