The Hunger Walk/Run -- an annual 5K walk and "fun run" begun in 1984 -- is a project of the Atlanta Community Food Bank that unites our community to raise awareness and critical funds for local hunger relief. Proceeds from the event benefit the Atlanta Community Food Bank and other local nonprofit organizations that support food pantries, community kitchens, shelters and other programs for people in need of food assistance. These benefiting partner organizations help recruit participants and receive a percentage of the funds raised to support their direct hunger relief programs.
Whether you choose to walk or run, you'll join thousands of participants coming together to support our neighbors in need and celebrate achievements already made in the fight against hunger. The family-friendly, festival atmosphere at Turner Field's Green Lot includes food vendors, games, educational activities, live entertainment and more!
In 2012, more than 15,000 participants came together to raise over $560,000 to combat hunger in our community! This year, you can help make a real difference in the lives of your fellow Georgians by helping us exceed our fundraising goals. Take the next step and join us on March 10, 2013!
Contact: For more information, Heather Dickenson at 404-501-9133 to walk with the St. Michael & All Angels team.

Hindu Temple All invited to attend the tour February 23 2013 at 9:30 am The Youth Group will be touring the Hindu Temple in Lilburn (corner of Rockbridge and Lawrenceville Hwy) on Saturday, February 23 at 10:00 AM. We will meet in the Hensler Hall parking lot at 9:30 AM and car pool to the Temple. There is no charge for the tour which last about 1 hour, but each participant is asked to bring one can of vegetables (no meat products please) which will be donated to the ACFB. Also all participants are asked to wear pants and shirts which cover the shoulders. Each person should also wear socks as we will be asked to remove our shoes when entering the main temple and the marble floor can be cold. No pictures are allowed inside the temple. If you are interested in touring the temple or have questions regarding the tour, please contact Marty Frame by email at E rgosol@aol.com or 770/270-1027. Please RSVP to her by Sunday, February 17 as the Temple requests an accurate number for planning purposes. To add to our experience we will be discussing the Hindu culture during the Sunday School hour on Sunday, February 17 at 9:15 AM. All are welcome to join in this discussion in our classroom in upstairs Hensler Hall. |
