DAY 37 OCTOBER 19, 2015 _____________________________________________________________
"I HAVE BEEN CRUCIFIED WITH CHRIST;
IT IS NO LONGER I WHO LIVE, BUT CHRIST LIVES IN ME;
AND THE LIFE WHICH I NOW LIVE IN THE FLESH
I LIVE BY FAITH IN THE SON OF GOD,
WHO LOVED ME AND GAVE HIMSELF FOR ME."
(Galatians 2:20)

RAISE UP THE STANDARD!
"To Him Who is able to keep you from falling and to present you before His glorious Presence without fault and with great joy - to the Only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen." (Jude 24)
Morning Devotion: Feasting in His Presence - Read John 14:7-14
Jesus opened the way for mankind to gain access to the Father in heaven. "No one comes to the Father except through Me" (John 14:6b). The hinge on the door which opens heaven is the resurrection of Jesus Christ, Who, through His death opened up a "new and living way" (Hebrews 10:20) into the Most Holy Place, and into the very presence of God. Divine access to the throne room of heaven was formerly denied to man because of sin. However, Jesus Christ, our perfect, sinless, great High Priest, stepped down from His throne in heaven and willingly laid down His life as the only acceptable sacrifice to atone for our sin once for all. By laying down His life for our sins Jesus tore open the veil that had previously kept us separated from the Father and opened the way for us to experience eternal life, both now and forever. There is no other way to heaven and the heavenly Father, except through Christ Jesus. He is the way, the truth, and the life!
Through His sacrificial and atoning work on the cross and His resurrection from the dead Jesus has connected us to the Father in heaven. He has revealed the Father to us, and now we can know the Father and Creator of the world. "No one has ever seen God, but God the One and Only, who is at the Father's side, has made Him known" (John 1:18). To be one with Christ is to be one with the Father. "I and the Father are one" (John 10:30). Jesus does not want us to only know Him and the Father academically; He wants us to know Him intimately. His entire work in the world is meant to bring us into a deeper, more personal, and abiding relationship with the Father. "If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him" (John 14:7). The consuming desire of our heart, like the apostle Paul, should be to know God better (reference Philippians 3:10-11). He has gone out of His way to reveal Himself to us, and to provide the way for us to have communion with Him. Jesus opened the way for us to become a part of His family, with God as our Father, and through His obedience to the Father we now have the right to be called sons and daughters of God (reference John 1:12; 2 Corinthians 6:18). "And by Him we cry, 'Abba, Father' " (Romans 8:15)). We are His children, and He is our Father. "Today I have become your Father" (Psalm 2:7; Acts 13:33). And as our Father, He is concerned about our needs (that is why He sent His Son to die for us!); and He wants nothing more than for His children to rest securely in the shelter of His protection and tender-loving care. He wants us to be completely dependent upon Him. We do this through feasting daily on the Word of God and spending intimate time alone with the Lord in prayer - for it is in the knowledge of God that we find ourselves abundantly full and satisfied.
The great work of God is accomplished in the world when we access the great power of God through prayer. "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it" (vv. 12-14). During His earthly ministry, Jesus demonstrated the importance of prayer as the key to His accomplishing the Father's will. Jesus declared that as His followers we would have opportunity to do even "greater things" through prayer. The gospel would spread throughout the earth and multitudes would be saved, because Jesus, our great Mediator, would be sitting at the Father's right hand interceding for us (reference Hebrews 7:25); and His Holy Spirit would be within us to help us in our prayer life to guide us through His Word and to teach us to pray more effectively, consistently, and according to His will. "This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us - whatever we ask - we know that we have what we asked of Him" (1 John 5:15). The scepter of our loving Father and eternal King will be extended to us when we come to Him in prayer and ask of Him the things which pleases His heart and furthers His kingdom work in the world. This is the privilege of every son and daughter of God (reference Romans 8:15-16); we will receive what we ask by faith through prayer. Every request we bring to our heavenly Father should be for the purpose of glorifying His name and accomplishing His will, not ours. Jesus has connected our heart to the heart of the Father and desires that we commune daily with Him there, so our lives will be filled with daily answers to prayer. Let us follow His pattern for prayer as we enter His courts with praise and thanksgiving this morning.
"Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
as we forgive our debtors.
And do not lead us into temptation.
But deliver us from the evil one.
For Yours is the kingdom and the power
and the glory forever. Amen."
(Matthew 6:9-13, NKJV)

REVOLUTIONIZE THE WORLD!
"Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,' says the LORD Almighty." (Zechariah 4:6)
Afternoon Devotion: Filled with His Power - Read 1 Corinthians 12:1-11
When God formed us in our physical bodies He gave each of us unique natural talents and abilities that set us apart from others. When we entered into Christ's body, through faith, we became the recipients of God's "spiritual gifts," which the Lord provides through His Holy Spirit to help strengthen believers and unify His Church. The gift or gifts we receive are the tools we are to use to build the spiritual house of God and bring glory to His name (see Romans 12:3-8; 1 Corinthians 12:3-11, 27-31; see Ephesians 4:11 for the three lists of Spiritual gifts given in the New Testament). There are various gifts and all are necessary for the Body to function properly (reference 1 Corinthians 14:12). "There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all" (1 Corinthians 12:4-6).
The Holy Spirit distributes various gifts to edify the church, and to benefit of the entire body; every gift is necessary for the health of the body. "Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good" (1 Corinthians 12:7). Some gifts may be hidden and appear to be less "showy" then the more visible gifts, but they are just as important, if not more so, to help keep the entire body functioning properly. Just like the internal organs of our physical body are hidden away and often go unnoticed in their day to day functioning, we could not live or breathe or think or process food without these vital members of the body. "But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He will" (v. 11).
While there is diversity and differences within the Body of Christ, God's desire for His church is unity. "May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that You sent Me and have loved them even as You have loved Me" (John 17:23). There is a difference between harmony and unison. When we sing a song we need the various parts to create the harmony, but it is only when all those parts come together in unison that a beautiful song is created. May we submit to the inner working of the Holy Spirit, and yield to His gentle touch upon the cords of our heart until He brings forth a new song in His Church which will glorify our Father in heaven.
"Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others,
faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms.
If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God.
If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides,
so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ.
To Him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen."
(1 Peter 4:10-11)

RESTORE PRAISE!
"Amen! Praise and glory and wisdom and thanks and honor and power and strength be to our God for ever and ever, Amen!" (Revelation 7:12)
Evening Devotion: Focused on His Praise - Read Psalm 103
Our Father in heaven is deeply concerned about the inner life of His children. As believers, ours is a spiritual life and we are to keep our mind and heart fixed on spiritual things. Our Mediator is before the throne day and night to receive from the Father those spiritual blessings we so dearly need as we walk in His way, His truth, and His life. This morning as we mediate on Psalm 103, may it become as a prayer of encouragement to our inner being, and as a song of praise to our Lord for being the fountain of endless supply. May we bless the Lord with our praise as we spend time with our Father at the close of our day.
"Bless the LORD, O my soul; and all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from destruction, who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies, who satisfies your mouth with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's. For as the heavens are high above the earth, so great is His mercy toward those who fear Him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us. As a father pities his children, so the LORD pities those who fear Him. For He knows our frame; He remembers that we are dust. Bless the LORD, all His works, in all places of His dominion. Bless the LORD, O my soul!"
(Psalm 103:1-5, 11-14, 22)
