DAY 19 OCTOBER 1, 2015 _____________________________________________________________
"I HAVE BEEN CRUCIFIED WITH CHRIST;
IT IS NO LONGER I WHO LIVE, BUT CHRIST LIVES IN ME;
AND THE LIFE WHICH I NOW LIVE IN THE FLESH
I LIVE BY FAITH IN THE SON OF GOD,
WHO LOVED ME AND GAVE HIMSELF FOR ME."
(Galatians 2:20)

RAISE UP THE STANDARD!
"To Him Who is able to keep you from falling and to present you before His glorious Presence without fault and with great joy - to the Only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen." (Jude 24)
Morning Devotion: Feasting in His Presence - Read Revelation 3:14-22
Our gracious and benevolent heavenly Father continues to hold open the door of grace that all might be saved. There is a life of joy and rich spiritual blessing in His presence to all who walk through the door of life. "In Your presence is fullness of joy" (Psalm 16:11b). Sadly, the doorway to the heart of man is shut up tight against the Lord. How great is God's love towards His creation that He does not withdraw from us, but in His longsuffering and kindness tarries a little longer that we might come to Him. "Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with Me" (Revelation 3:20).
In our reading of the church of Laodicea in the third chapter of the Book of Revelation, we find that it is not unlike many of the churches in America today. There is a spirit of self-delusion and self-reliance in the church. We live in the midst of two worlds - the spiritual and the physical - but the physical, material world is winning out. The world has come into the church and is taking over; and in our abundance and self-sufficiency we have become blind to our true condition. We have built our churches and are operating them with the business model of the world; we believe because of our numbers that we are successful, but we lack spiritual power in the eyes of God. "You say, 'I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.' But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked' " (Revelation 3:17). The door of the church is closed to God, and He looks in upon our lukewarm works, and His stomach is turned. Our indifference in the church today makes the Lord want to vomit! "So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth" (v.16). How dangerous and desperate our condition that we do not stop to even consider what God thinks of us. How great our desire in the church should be to do the things which please Him. How dearly we need to repent of our ways and stop walking the middle road and choose instead to follow Christ with whole-hearted zeal and devotion. "How long will you falter between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him" (1 Kings 18:21).
It's been said that "a church without prayer, is a church without God." The prayer altar is barely smoldering in many of our American churches, and the result of our independence from God is a powerless, ineffective Body, that, like Laodicea, is neither a channel of "healing for the spiritually sick nor refreshment for the spiritually weary" (NIV). God has given us the remedy for our sick condition - repentance. It's time to repent and accept the discipline of our loving Shepherd who wants to stoke the fire of our hearts, and set us aflame in passionate pursuit of our First Love once again, so we can have restored fellowship with Him and renewed power to impact the world for the glory of God. "Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline" (v.19a). May we "who [have] an ear, let [us] hear what the Spirit [is saying] to the church[es]" (v.22), and open the door to experience the fullness of His Presence and His Power that we are missing and so desperately need once again! "Be dressed and ready for service and keep your lamps burning, like men waiting for their master to return from a wedding banquet, so that when he comes and knocks they can immediately open the door for him" (Luke 12:35-36).
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for Your hand of discipline, "for whom the Lord loves He chastens"You do this "for our profit, that we may bepartakers of You holiness" (Hebrews 12:6a, 10b).
How grateful we are that You do not leave us in our present condition, but take the time to show us our spiritual blindness, nakedness, and poverty in the church. Stir Your Church to respond to Your wise counsel "to buy from You gold refined in fire, that we may be rich; and white garments that we may be clothed...and anoint our eyes with Your eye salve that we may see."
(Revelation 3:18) Save us from the dangerous place we have found ourselves in this present day. Awaken our hearts from our sleepy, apathetic condition in this urgent hour, and fill us with a renewed zeal so we can be more than conquerors for Your kingdom. Revive Your Church to be a channel of blessing to this earth, so "the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of God as the waters cover the sea."
(Habakkuk 2:14) Be glorified and welcomed in Your Church we pray. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

REVOLUTIONIZE THE WORLD!
"Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,' says the LORD Almighty." (Zechariah 4:6)
Afternoon Devotion: Filled with His Power - Read Matthew 7:7-11
The Lord's desire for His children to experience fellowship and communion with Him is so great that He waits patiently at the door, persistently knocking, at least for the time being, until we finally answer and open the door to Him. His example at the door of our hearts, which is so willfully shut against Christ, is meant to encourage us at His door of grace, which is graciously open to all who will come to Him in prayer. "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened" (Matthew 7:7-8).
When we pray we are not simply just to ask, but we are to come seeking the Lord, with an earnest desire to know His heart and His will, and a willingness to trust Him that He knows better for us what we need, and to leave it to Him to give us those things that will prosper us spiritually and to deny us those things which will harm us. We are also instructed to not only ask, but to knock as one expecting the owner of the house to be home; we are to keep knocking until the door is open to us and we meet face to face with the one we have come to visit, and welcomed to enter into His presence and receive what we have come to His house inquiring of. There is a difference between praying and petitioning. When we ask with the added fervency of seeking and knocking we have entered into the realm of a true petitioner at the door of grace, and we will surely have our hearts desire. King David was a true knocker at the house of the Lord. We can hear the earnest petition of his heart which refused to be satisfied with anything but the presence of the Owner of the house: "One thing I have desired of the LORD, that will I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in His temple" (Psalm 27:4).
The answer we are looking for is waiting for us at the door in the person of Jesus Christ. Our faithful, loving Shepherd and Savior stands holding the key to our every question, concern, difficulty, trial, challenge and circumstance which we face. If He allows us to suffer any trial or tribulation in this life, it is meant to lead us to Him so He can show Himself faithful, good, loving, merciful and kind. It is in prayer that we experience true fellowship and communion with the Lord and experience His peace, power, protection and provision. It is the duty of all Christians to pray. By prayer God has given us the avenue by which we may obtain all that we, and the world, needs. He is a loving, kind, tender-hearted, benevolent heavenly Father "who will give good things to those who ask Him" (v.11b). All that He has for us is a free gift of His love and grace; and all we have to do is ask. He has given us the gift of His Holy Spirit to lead us through the door of heavenly understanding. If we allow Him, He will be our faithful guide into all truth and lead us into the deep recesses of the Father's heart so we will know how to ask properly and obtain that which we ask for. This afternoon let us take advantage of the open door before us and put into practice the commitment to earnest, persistent, persevering, overcoming prayer that we may obtain grace for a world utterly dependent upon our prayers! "This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us - whatever we ask - we know that we have what we asked of Him"
(1 John 5:14-15).

RESTORE PRAISE! "Amen! Praise and glory and wisdom and thanks and honor and power and strength be to our God for ever and ever, Amen!" (Revelation 7:12) Evening Devotion: Focused on His Praise - Read Psalm 9
We began our day with the half-hearted church of Laodicea whose devotion for the Lord was less than lackluster and whose temperature was lukewarm; which is a dangerous condition for not only for the church to be in, but for the world which depends on the prayers of the church for its blessings, abundance, security, health, and prosperity. It is vital that we heed the reading on the thermometer of the church today and submit to the remedy of repentance our Great Physician has prescribed for us. Ninety-eight point six may be a sign of normal health, but for the Christian it is a signal that we have lost our zeal and fervor for the Lord who wants our hearts to be on fire for Him. Tonight, let us end our day with a Psalm that offers up a sacrifice of "whole-hearted" praise to our benevolent and gracious heavenly Father who has blessed us in the heavenly realm with every spiritual blessing in Christ Jesus. May we take on His heart so that we may pray with understanding and ask, in accordance with His will, for those things which will bring help and healing to our land. "Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need" (Hebrews 4:16).
"I will praise you, O LORD, with my whole heart;
I will tell of all Your marvelous works.
I will be glad and rejoice in You;
I will sing praise to Your name, O Most High. For You have maintained my right and my cause.
You sat on the throne judging in righteousness.
But the LORD shall endure forever;
He has prepared His throne for judgment.
He shall judge the world in righteousness,
and He shall administer judgment for the peoples in uprightness.
The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed,
a refuge in times of trouble.
And those who know Your name will put their trust in You;
for You, LORD, have not forsaken those who seek You.
Sing praises to the LORD, who dwells in Zion!"
Declare His deeds among the people."
(Psalm 9:1-2, 4, 7-11)
