Day Twenty-Seven Devotions:
MORNING MEDITATION
AFTERNOON DEVOTION
EVENING PRAYER
MORNING MEDITATION

Morning Meditation: "I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice He judges and makes war. His eyes are like a blazing fire, and on His head are many crowns. He has a name written on Him that no one knows but He Himself." - Revelation 19:11-12

Jesus Christ came to us as Savior, but will one day He will return as Warrior. He will ride forth victoriously on behalf of His people to conquer His enemies and establish His kingdom. "But the LORD is the true God; He is the living God, the eternal King. When He is angry, the earth trembles; the nations cannot endure His wrath" (Jeremiah 10:10). The Lord showed Himself as a mighty warrior on behalf of His people Israel when He delivered them out of bondage from Egypt and gave them victory over Pharaoh and his army.  He delivers His people, not just out of bondage, but is also faithful to see them through to the other side where they will be completely secure and safe in Him. "The LORD is warrior; the LORD is His name. Pharaoh's chariots and his army He has hurled into the sea...Your right hand, O LORD, was majestic in power. Your right hand, O LORD, shattered the enemy. In the greatness of Your majesty You threw down those who opposed You. Your unleashed Your burning anger; it consumed them like stubble" (Exodus 15:3, 4a, 6-7).

The name of our God is Faithful and True. He is faithful to keep all His promises and no one and no thing can thwart His purposes; all will be fulfilled just as He has planned."Know therefore that the LORD your God is God; He is the faithful God, keeping His covenant of love to a thousand generations to those who love Him and keep His commands" (Deuteronomy 7:9). Our God is the eternal God, the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End. There is so much we don't know about Him, and so much we can't possibly comprehend; there is even another name He has that only He knows. When He returns there will be so much more that will be revealed. Let us trust that the Faithful and True One who knows everything (things that we aren't even allowed to know at this time), that He knows how to deliver us out of our troubles if we will take a note from His people Israel and learn to be still."The LORD will fight for you; you need only be still" (Exodus 14:14). The eyes of the Lord are ever upon His people, and He will not let them out of His sight or out of His hands. There is nothing that escapes His attention; we have nothing to fear. He will never fail or forsake us. Our God is faithful and true, honest and just - and a Mighty Warrior who is on our side! Lord we praise you for being "...faithful to all His promises and loving toward all He has made" (Psalm 145:13b); forgive us for being restless in our circumstances; help us to stand firm with our eyes fixed on You today.

"These are the words of the Amen,

the faithful and true witness,

the ruler of God's creation."

(Revelation 3:14)

AFTERNOON DEVOTION

Afternoon Devotion: "Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: 'For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.' No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us." - Romans 8:35-37

God used the armies of Pharaoh to bring glory to His name and the trials that the Israelites faced to build their trust in God. Our God is Faithful and True, and the challenges we face can never change that; they only provide opportunities that confirm that this is who our God truly is. Our covenant of love, that has been written our hearts and signed in His blood and with His name, guarantees our protection and future with Him, but it doesn't promise us a life without difficulties. Our God is a Conqueror, and because we have His powerful life-giving blood coursing through our veins and the authority of His royal name, we are "more than conquerors." God uses the challenges we face to draw us to Him so we will learn to depend on His love even more. Every trial only confirms the unbreakable bond that we have in Christ. "For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 8:38-39).

Our Conquering-Warrior-Savior defeated sin and death on the cross and has given us the power to overcome the world. "You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world" (1 John 4:4). As believers, we bear the name of the Victorious One, so our every day for us should be a day of victory. "...for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus Christ is the Son of God" (1 John 5:4-5). God has shared with us His name that is "far above all rule and authority, power and dominion" (Ephesians 1:21a), nothing or no one can come against us. Lord Jesus, forgive us for not exercising the power and authority we have in Your name when temptation seeks to rob us of our intimacy with You. We praise You that we have victory in Your name!

"I have told you these things,

so that in Me you may have peace.

In this world you will have trouble.

But take heart!

I have overcome the world."

(John 16:33)

EVENING PRAYER

Evening Prayer of Repentance:  "Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." - Philippians 2:9-11

Holy Father,

"I will bow down toward Your holy temple

and praise Your name

for Your love and Your faithfulness."

"I do not trust in my bow,

my sword does not bring me victory;

but You give us victory over our enemies,

You put our adversaries to shame.

In God we make our boast all day long,

and we will praise Your name forever."

"With God we will gain the victory,

and He will trample down our enemies."

Forgive us for not fully trusting in You more,

when the pressures and trials,

(and sometimes even the blessings of life)

cause us to lose our focus or

hinder our devotion with You.

Help us to seek more of You each day,

and learn to be still and wait upon You;

and trust that You are bringing all things

together for our good and Your glory

at just the right time, and in the right way.

Thank you that we have victory in Your

mighty, powerful, majestic and conquering name.

In Jesus Christ, the name above all names, we pray.

Amen.

(Psalm 44:6-8; 60:12; 138:2)
