MORNING MEDITATION

Morning Meditation: "God said to Moses, "I AM WHO I AM. That is what you are to say to the Israelites: "I AM has sent me to you.'"- Exodus 3:14-15

When God called Moses to be His chosen servant to lead His people out of bondage in Egypt, Moses asked Him to explain His name. Moses wasn't looking for a title when he asked God his question, he simply wanted to know the One who had made this call on his life and wanted assurance before he proceeded. When God responded to his request with the words, "I AM WHO I AM," Moses should have immediately felt the weigh lifted from his shoulders with the declaration of His Name. The name expressed His character to be the faithful and dependable God who can be completely trusted. "And God said, 'I will be with you'" (Exodus 3:12a). No other explanation is required, that should be enough for all God's servants, even today; because it doesn't matter who we are, or what we can or cannot do, all that matters is that God is "I AM," and we are simply "I am not!"

God IS, and that's all that matters. He is the self-existent God. He has always existed and He has no origin. There is no greater power, He is all authority, and no one can hinder Him in anyway. Everything originates in Him, from His hand all things come; and we cannot give Him anything that He hasn't first given to us. To know anything about ourselves we first have to know who God is. That it is why it is God's highest priority for us to know Him; because when we take the time to know Him we will discover who we are and what we were created to be. To put ourselves before Him, or neglect knowing Him at all, is to arrogantly declare that we are "I AM," and tell Him "He is not." That is why it is important to keep our eyes off ourselves, and keep them fixed at all times on the Lord. In His name is all power and authority that He gives to those who trust Him. When we take on His name there is nothing we can't do. "No one will be able to stand up against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you: I will never leave you nor forsake you" (Joshua 1:5). Father, when we humble ourselves before you, the great and wonderful "I AM," we do so with a desire to rid ourselves of the self that still reigns within; ever mindful at the same time that we are standing in the gap for a world that is choosing to be independent of You. Help us to walk fearlessly in the power of Your Name.

"Do not be afraid; keep on speaking, do not be silent.

For I am with you, and no one is going to attack and harm you,

because I have many people in the city."

(Acts 18:10)

AFTERNOON DEVOTION

Afternoon Devotion: "The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe." - Proverbs 18:10

When the Lord sends His people out to do His work, He sends them out under the full protection of His Name. He goes before His people to prepare the way and assures their success. If He is the one doing the sending, He will surely protect His people, as one would protect any precious parcel, to make sure we make it to our appointed destination, so we can complete the work we have been called to do. "The one who calls you is faithful and He will do it" (1 Thessalonians 5:24). He has promised to never leave us or forsake us; He will never let us go. "All authority in heaven and on hearth has been given to Me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age" (Matthew 28:18-20).

Holy God is the One who upholds up things, He doesn't need our support; He has promised to be our protector, and He guarantees our success. He has chosen us as His people and as the dwelling place for His name, and has made us a secure fortress, filled with His unfailing strength; this should give us confidence and courage for everything we do in His name. "May the LORD answer you when you are in distress; may the name of the God of Jacob protect you. May He send you help from the sanctuary and grant you support from Zion...May He give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed...Now I know the LORD saves His anointed; He answers him from His holy heaven with the saving power of His right hand. Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God" (Psalm 20:1-2, 4, 6-7). Our security is in Christ Jesus; He has given us His Name, and has pledged His full support so we can accomplish His will. His honor that is at stake when we are under the attack, so He will not abandon us, but only do what is necessary to glorify His name. "My salvation and my honor depend on God; He is my mighty rock, my refuge. Trust in Him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to Him, for God is our refuge" (Psalm 62:7). Lord, You are the stronghold of our life, forgive us for seeking any other source of refuge when the battle intensifies. May this discipline of spending time with You throughout the day remind us in the thick of things that You are never far away, and that the quickest way to disarm the enemy is to come to You and pray.

"He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High

will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

I will say of the Lord,

"He is my refuge and my fortress,

my God, in whom I trust."

Surely He will save you from the fowler's snare

and from the deadly pestilence.

He will cover you with His feathers,

and under His wings you will find refuge;

His faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.

If you make the Most High your dwelling -

even the LORD, who is my refuge -

then no harm will befall you,

no disaster will come near your tent.

For He will command His angels concerning you

to guard you in all your ways...

"Because he loves Me," says the LORD,

"I will rescue him; I will protect him,

for He acknowledges My name.

He will call upon Me, and I will answer him;

I will be with him in trouble,

I will deliver him and honor him.

With long life will I satisfy him

and show him My salvation."

(Psalm 91:1-4, 9-11, 14-16)

EVENING PRAYER

Evening Prayer of Repentance:  "Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." - Philippians 2:9-11

Holy Father,

"I love you, LORD, my strength.

The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer;

my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge.

He is my shield and the horn of my salvation,

my stronghold...He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him...

it is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect..

the LORD lives! Praise be my Rock!

Exalted be God my Savior!"

You are a faithful Husband,

Provider and Protector.

We praise You for watching over us

and keeping us tucked safely under Your wings;

for displaying Your mighty power on our behalf,

and keeping us from harm.

Forgive us for risking our security in You,

when we have gone astray.

We rejoice that no matter where we are

You are always there with us.

You are our refuge and fortress,

our God, in whom we trust.

In the mighty and majestic Name, of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.

(Psalm 18:2, 30, 46; 91:2)
