Day Fifteen Devotions:
MORNING MEDITATION
AFTERNOON DEVOTION
EVENING PRAYER
MORNING MEDITATION

Morning Meditation"My covenant was with him, a covenant of life and peace, and I gave them to him; this called for reverence and he revered Me and stood in awe of my name. True instruction was in his mouth and nothing false was on his lips. He walked with Me in peace and uprightness, and turned many away from sin." - Malachi 2:5-6

When Ezra the scribe opened the Book of the Law to read it aloud in front of the people, all who were gathered there stood for hours listening intently to the word of God. God's Word fell afresh upon the hearts of the people and they began to weep, but Nehemiah and the others with him instructed the people to rejoice for this was a day of celebration (Nehemiah 8:1-10). When the Book of the Covenant was found in the temple, King Josiah tore his robes when he heard the words. Then he called all the people together to hear the words and renew their covenant in the presence of the Lord (1 Kings 22:11; 23:1-3). When Moses read the Book of the Covenant to all the people they declared, "We will do everything the LORD has said, we will obey" (Exodus 24:7). Wherever and whenever the Word of God is read it has power to move and transform the heart of man. "Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ" (Romans 10:17).

Jesus Christ came as the mediator of a superior covenant that would be written on the heart of man so that He could achieve His higher purposes of making us one with Him. "I will put My laws in their minds and write them on their hearts. I will be their God and they will be My people" (Jeremiah 31:33; Hebrews 8:10). This new covenant of His blood would offer an even superior benefit in that it would open the way into a personal and intimate relationship with Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. "...and be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ - the righteousness from God and is by faith" (Philippians 3:9). The blood of Christ speaks a better word and calls all men to come to Him through faith in His blood. "This is My blood of the new covenant, which is poured out for many" (Mark 14:24). May we treat the precious and priceless blood of Jesus Christ with the utmost respect - for the life that we've been given through His blood is His own life that He gave up. "...life is in the blood..." (Leviticus 17:11).

"Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed,

yet My unfailing love for you will not be shaken

nor My covenant of peace be removed," says the LORD,

who has compassion on you."

(Isaiah 54:10)

AFTERNOON DEVOTION

Afternoon Devotion"Therefore, since we have been justified through faith we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ."

- Romans 5:1

The Lord is working His holy purpose in His people to bring us to a place of spiritual perfection, and to achieve His eternal purpose in raising up His Body, the Church, to bring us under the headship of Christ (Ephesians 2:11) "For He Himself is our peace, who has made the two one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, by abolishing in His flesh the law with its commandments and regulations. His purpose was to create in Himself one new man out of the two, thus making peace, and in this one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which He put to death their hostility" (Ephesians 2:14-16). Jesus died not only to bring us salvation and forgiveness of sins, but also to effect a new life of holiness in His Church. His blood cleanses us from all unrighteousness and offers us many spiritual blessings. The first of which was tearing down that dividing wall where once we were called enemies of God, but now, through the atoning blood of Christ, we can be called His friends. "Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. But now He has reconciled you by Christ's physical body through death to present you holy in His sight, without blemish and free from accusation - if you continue in your faith, established and firm, not moved from the hope held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven..." (Colossians 1:21-23). The blood of Christ shed on the cross has made peace possible between God and man!

"Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts,

since as members of one body you were called to peace."

"The LORD gives strength to His people;

The LORD blesses His people with peace."

"And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding,

will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

"Now may the Lord of peace Himself

give you peace at all times and in every way.

The Lord be with all of you."

(Psalm 29:11; Philippians 4:7; Colossians 3:15; 2 Thessalonians 3:16)

EVENING PRAYER

Evening Prayer of Repentance:  "Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made Himself nothing, taking on the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to death - even death on a cross!" - Philippians 2:5-8

Holy Father,

we praise You that all the ways of the LORD

are loving and faithful for those

who keep the demands of Your covenant.

We humbly bow before You utterly aware of our

unworthiness to approach holy God as we are.

We come before Your throne by the path

of faith which You have prepared for our feet having

entered only through trusting in the atoning work

and shed blood of Your Son Jesus Christ on the cross.

Forgive us of those worldly things that captivate our heart,

when it should be a sacred place reserved for You alone;

and for entertaining anything that is unworthy of You

or prevents us from beholding Your beauty.

Help us make the most of every day to live in peace with all men,

and to live a life of holiness so they will see the Lord.

In the precious blood of Jesus Christ we pray. Amen.

(Psalm 25:10; Hebrews 12:14)
