MORNING MEDITATION

Morning Meditation: "In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days He has spoken to us by His Son,  whom He appointed heir of all things, and through whom He made the universe..." - Hebrews 1:1-2

It is the dawn of a new day, but before the day gets the best of us, may we take the time to give our best to the One who has given everything to us. Let us take a few moments to reflect on how truly blessed we are. We have been chosen as the most beloved-wife of the Son of the Most High God. Our hand has been sought in marriage to the One who is appointed heir of the eternal Kingdom of God. In His hands rests the full weight of responsibility for our eternal happiness, and in our hands we hold the grandest marriage covenant ever written, overflowing with precious promises that can never be broken.

Meditate on this beloved Bride of the One who created the universe: The Word that was spoken "in the beginning" - the Word that from the moment it was uttered shocked the darkness with brilliant light and made the darkness flee; the Word that had strength to move the heavy waters of the deep and made dry ground appear to become a firm foundation beneath our feet; the Word that filled the dark sky with dazzling lights so we would never have to fear the night; the Word that is the only word powerful enough to conquer death and create life; the Word that created animals and creatures of every kind, but chose to create man in His own image - that Word - The Word - is the One who wrote in His covenant of love that we are to be His Bride. "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through Him all things were made; without Him nothing was made that has been made. In Him was life, and that light was the light of men. (John 1:1-4).

The One who made the universe is surely a faithful Husband who can be trusted with our every need. Our Beloved Bridegroom has given us access to the unlimited wealth of His kingdom and we will never be able to exhaust His supply. This morning let us begin our day in praise to the omnipotent and all-sufficient one who is a fountain of goodness and love that will never run dry.

"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,

who has blessed us in the heavenly realms

with every spiritual blessing in Christ."

(Ephesians 1:3)

AFTERNOON DEVOTION

Afternoon Devotion"And God placed all things under His feet and appointed Him to be head over everything for the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills everything in every way." - Ephesians 1:22-23

God, the Father, gave His Son supremacy over creation and He placed all things under His feet. A suitable helper was chosen for His Son, from His own body, and He took her, the Church for His own and became Head over her; and tenderly and compassionately He cares for her and feeds her as His own. "After all, no one ever hated his own body, but He feeds and cares for it, just as Christ does the church" (Ephesians 5:29). His desire is for His Body, the Church, to be filled with all His fullness (John 10:10). "From the fullness of His grace we have all received one blessing after another" (John 1:16).

Christ reigns over the Church as He reigns over the universe. He is a faithful Shepherd who is ever-present, ever-watchful, and always faithful. The One who was present at Creation, and through whom all things were made, is the trustworthy One who will carry the work of redemption, by repeating His work of creation in the hearts and lives of man. "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!" (2 Corinthians 5:17). God has purposed to bring all things under one head, which is Christ (Ephesians 1:9-10). Let us praise Him for His wisdom in providing a Sovereign Head who has faithfully been leading us to that ultimate place of restoration and rest - where all will be fulfilled in the future kingdom, and where we will regain the rule that was entrusted to man at creation, but was lost because of sin (Genesis 1:26-28).

"Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth.

Worship the LORD with gladness;

come before Him with joyful songs.

Know that the LORD is God.

It is He who made us, and we are His;

we are His people, the sheep of His pasture.

Enter His gates with thanksgiving

and His courts with praise;

Give thanks to Him and praise His name.

For the LORD is good and His love endures forever;

His faithfulness continues through all generations."

(Psalm 100)

EVENING PRAYER

Evening Prayer of Praise:"His intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms, according to His eternal purpose which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord. In Him and through faith in Him we may approach God with freedom and confidence." - Ephesians 3:10-12

All the powers and authorities, which were created by God, look on with wonder and awe at the wisdom of God in uniting His Church under the Head, which is Christ. May we honor our Sovereign Shepherd-King by feeding on His Holy Word, so the Body can be nourished and strengthened and restored as a healthy and unified Body under our rightful Head. "He has lost connection with the Head, from whom the whole body, supported and held together by its ligaments and sinews, grows as God causes it to grow" (Colossians 2:19). May we re-connect our whole heart, soul, and mind to that faithful Head, and bow to His rule over our minds to be our wisdom, our eyes to be our vision, our ears to hear His voice, and our mouths to speak His Word and praise His holy name!

"I will praise the LORD, who counsels me;

even at night my heart instructs me.

I have set the LORD always before me.

Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.

Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices;

my body also will rest secure,

because You will not abandon me to the grave,

nor will You let your Holy One see decay.

You have made known to me the path of life;

You will fill me with joy in Your presence,

with eternal pleasures at Your right hand."

(Psalm 16:7-11)
