Day 8
Day Eight Devotions:
MORNING MEDITATION
AFTERNOON DEVOTION
EVENING PRAYER
MORNING MEDITATION

Morning Meditation: "In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days He has spoken to us by His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things..." - Hebrews 1:1-2a

The work of Creation was finished, and as the Master spoke His final blessing upon the covenant, He turned His attention to the One for whom it was written - and into the hands of the Bridegroom He placed the sacred scroll for safekeeping. "The Father loves the Son and has placed everything in His hands" (John 3:35). The Creator constructed a beautiful home for His creatures to live in, and now the owner of the covenant would faithfully attend to their well-being. "For every house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything...Christ is faithful as a son over God's house. And we are His house, if we hold on to our courage and the hope of which we boast" (Hebrews 3:4, 6).

The faithful Keeper of the Covenant would be none other than God's own Son; for no one else could fulfill the demands of our Marriage Covenant than the One we are betrothed to. God in His goodness has placed us under His protective care. He has placed everything in His hands and has put everything under His feet (1 Corinthians 15:27). God, who gave us everything we needed, since the days of creation, to bless and promote life, has now given us the One who alone can save our life. "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him" (John 3:16-17).

This morning as we gaze upon the holy image of God - as seen in His Son Jesus Christ - let us offer up a prayer of praise for this most extravagant display of His covenant of love. "This is how God showed His love among us: He sent His One and Only Son into the world that we might live through Him" (1 John 4:9).

"We tell you the good news:

What God has promised our fathers He has fulfilled for us,

their children, by raising up Jesus.

As it is written in the second Psalm:

'You are my Son; today I have become Your Father.'

Ask of Me, and I will make the nations Your inheritance,

the ends of the earth Your possession."

"Save Your people and bless Your inheritance;

be their shepherd and carry them forever."

(Psalm 2:7b-8; 28:9; Acts 13:32-33)

AFTERNOON DEVOTION

Afternoon Devotion"All things have been committed to Me by My Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal Him." - Matthew 11:27

In the beginning, God displayed His goodness, faithfulness, holiness, and love in nature, but today He has demonstrated the fullness of His divine attributes in the holy image of His Son Jesus Christ."He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation" (Colossians 1:15). Jesus brings us a full revelation of the Heavenly Father. "No one has ever seen God but God the One and Only, who is at the Father's side, has made Him known" (John 1:18). As God's "only begotten Son," Jesus is of the same essence of the Father. In giving us His Son, the Father gave us the fullness of Himself. He has held nothing back from us. He has graciously given us everything. "He who did not spare His own Son, but gave Him up for us all - how will He not also, along with Him, graciously give us all things?" (Romans 8:32).

Praise God that all that the Father displayed for us in creation is attainable through faith in His Son, Jesus Christ. In Christ, we are no longer just tenants of the land, instead we have become children of His household, and have received all the rights and privileges of sonship. And because of Christ we can call Him "Father" when we pray. "Because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, "Abba Father," So you are no longer a slave, but a son; and since you are a son, God has made you also an heir" (Galatians 4:6-7).

"Righteous Father,

though the world does not know You,

I know You and they know that You have sent Me.

I have made You known to them,

and will continue to make You known in order that

the love You have for Me may be in them and that

I myself may be in them."

John 17:25-26

EVENING PRAYER

Evening Prayer of Praise:

"All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me." - Matthew 28:18

Our Heavenly Father, who has called us to live a holy life, has graciously provided us the pathway into His holiness through His Son, Jesus Christ. Let us daily look to the perfection of Jesus Christ as we lift up a prayer of praise to the One who is the faithful keeper and fulfiller of our covenant of love. "Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect" (Matthew 5:48).

"Father, the time has come.

Glorify Your Son, that Your Son may glorify You.

For You granted Him authority over all people

that He might give eternal life to those You have given Him.

Now this is eternal life: that they may know You,

the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom You have sent.

I have brought You glory on earth

by completing the work You gave Me to do.

And now, Father, glorify Me in Your presence

with the glory I had with You before the world began."

(John 17:1-5)
