MORNING MEDITATION
Morning Meditation: "In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days He has spoken to us by His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things..." - Hebrews 1:1-2a
The work of Creation was finished, and as the Master spoke His final blessing upon the covenant, He turned His attention to the One for whom it was written - and into the hands of the Bridegroom He placed the sacred scroll for safekeeping. "The Father loves the Son and has placed everything in His hands" (John 3:35). The Creator constructed a beautiful home for His creatures to live in, and now the owner of the covenant would faithfully attend to their well-being. "For every house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything...Christ is faithful as a son over God's house. And we are His house, if we hold on to our courage and the hope of which we boast" (Hebrews 3:4, 6).
The faithful Keeper of the Covenant would be none other than God's own Son; for no one else could fulfill the demands of our Marriage Covenant than the One we are betrothed to. God in His goodness has placed us under His protective care. He has placed everything in His hands and has put everything under His feet (1 Corinthians 15:27). God, who gave us everything we needed, since the days of creation, to bless and promote life, has now given us the One who alone can save our life. "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him" (John 3:16-17).
This morning as we gaze upon the holy image of God - as seen in His Son Jesus Christ - let us offer up a prayer of praise for this most extravagant display of His covenant of love. "This is how God showed His love among us: He sent His One and Only Son into the world that we might live through Him" (1 John 4:9).
"We tell you the good news:
What God has promised our fathers He has fulfilled for us,
their children, by raising up Jesus.
As it is written in the second Psalm:
'You are my Son; today I have become Your Father.'
Ask of Me, and I will make the nations Your inheritance,
the ends of the earth Your possession."
"Save Your people and bless Your inheritance;
be their shepherd and carry them forever."
(Psalm 2:7b-8; 28:9; Acts 13:32-33)
