MORNING MEDITATION

 

Morning Meditation: "And God said, 'Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the expanse of the sky.' So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living and moving thing with which the water teems, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. God blessed them and said, 'Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the water in the seas, and let the birds increase on the earth.' And there was evening, and there was morning - the fifth day." - Genesis 1:20-23.

 

On the fourth day of creation the eternal clock of heaven was set. God's bejeweled time-piece in the sky sparkles agelessly with the magnificent announcement of that future nuptial day. The hands of time were set in motion as the sun and moon took their governing positions, with the whole sky supporting them as one intricate mechanism functioning together in perfect order. "The moon marks off the seasons, and the sun knows when to go down" (Psalm 104:19). With the official date now firmly established, the Creator could turn His attention to the most important part of the Marriage Covenant. On the fifth day, He went to work outlining the provision for His Bride and all His sacred responsibilities in caring for and protecting His wife. The Creator of the Covenant penned His promises to the minutest detail as He illustrated His intention by filling the sea with "every living and moving thing" and the sky "with every winged bird according to its kind."

 

On this fifth day of creation, the Possessor of the whole world opened up His vast storehouse in an extravagant display of His love and goodness toward His Bride. There was to be no question that she was to have access to everything He owned as He poured out His riches into the ocean depths and the great expanse of the sky - and even they could not contain the immenseness of His wealth as the heavenly storehouses continued to brim with an infinite, endless, inexhaustible supply.  

 

"May the LORD bless this land with the precious dew from heaven above

and with the deep waters that lie below;

with the best the sun brings forth and the finest the moon can yield;

with the choicest gifts of the ancient mountains

and the fruitfulness of the everlasting hills;

with the best gifts of the earth and its fullness

and the favor of Him who dwelt in the burning bush"

(Deuteronomy 33:13-16a)

 

The Creator filled every corner of the sky, and the deepest depths of the ocean, to assure His Bride that there was nothing He couldn't provide her. This morning as we consider all the wondrous works of our Creators' hands, let us praise Him for His greatness, as we have seen in His handiwork in the sky, but also for His goodness, which He has poured out upon us as our provision in an abundant, endless supply. "From the fullness of his grace we have all received one blessing after another" (John 1:16).

 

"Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God!

How unsearchable His judgments, and His paths beyond tracing out!

'Who has known the mind of the LORD?

Or who has been His counselor?'

'Who has ever given to God that God should repay Him?'

From Him and through Him and to Him are all things.

To Him be the glory forever! Amen."

(Romans 11:33-36)

 

 

AFTERNOON DEVOTION

 

Afternoon Devotion "I pray that out of His glorious riches He may strengthen you with power through His Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge - that you may be filled to the measure of the fullness of God"

(Ephesians 3:18-19).  

 

 

On the fifth day of Creation, God filled the water and the sky with every living thing. The same God who displayed His majesty, splendor, and glory in forming His universe, was now expressing His goodness, faithfulness, and love in filling the earth. "For the word of the LORD is right and true; He is faithful in all He does. The LORD loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of His unfailing love" (Psalm 33:4-5). God is infinitely good and He desires to share His goodness with His creatures. His goodness is behind all the blessings He bestows upon us. He wants to fill His people in the same manner that He filled the earth. He wants us to experience all the blessings that come from being filled with the fullness of Christ.  "...until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ" (Ephesians 4:13). Everything God formed was meant to be filled - filled with the blessings of His goodness. Just as God balanced out the realms of the earth by filling both the sea and the sky with the physical blessings of life, He wants to bring balance to His people by filling us with all the spiritual blessings of life in the Spirit.  

 

As the sky and the sea opened wide to be filled with the immeasurable fullness of God's gracious blessing on the fifth day of creation, may we, His Bride and Body, also open our hearts this day to the incomparable riches of His grace and experience the fullness of His abiding life and abounding love which He has stored up for us in Christ Jesus our Lord.

 

"Your love, O LORD, reaches to the heavens,

Your faithfulness to the skies.

Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains,

Your justice like the great deep.

O LORD, you preserve both man and beast.

How priceless is Your unfailing love!

Both high and low among men

find refuge in the shadow of Your wings.

They feast on the abundance of Your house;

You give them drink from Your river of delights.

For with You is the fountain of life;

in Your light we see light."

(Psalm 36:5-9)

 

    

EVENING PRAYER
 
Evening Prayer of Praise
"And there was evening, and there was morning - the fifth day" - Genesis 1:23.  
 

All of creation is brimming over with the fullness of the God's goodness and functioning under the blessing of His divine benediction. "God blessed them and said, 'Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the water in the seas, and the birds increase on the earth" (v.22). This evening, let us praise our Creator for the blessings of His goodness which He has bestowed upon us in Christ Jesus. May we seek to be filled daily with all His fullness so we, as His Body, can experience all the blessings of His goodness and love which He has purposed for us in our Marriage Covenant.   "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ" (Ephesians 1:3).  

 

"How many are Your works, O LORD!

In wisdom You made them all;

the earth is full of Your creatures.

There is the sea, vast and spacious,

teeming with creatures beyond number -

living things both large and small.

There the ships go to and fro,

and the leviathan, which You formed to frolic there.

These all look to You to give them their food at the proper time.

When You give it to them, they gather it up;

when You open Your hand, they are satisfied with good things.

When You hide Your face, they are terrified;

when You take away their breath,

they die and return to the dust.

When You send Your Spirit, they are created,

and You renew the face of the earth.

May the glory of the LORD endure forever;

may the LORD rejoice in His works -

He who looks at the earth, and it trembles,

who touches the mountains, and they smoke.

I will sing to the LORD all my life;

I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.

May my meditation be pleasing to Him,

as I rejoice in the LORD.

But may sinners vanish from the earth

and the wicked be no more.

Praise the LORD, O my soul. Praise the LORD."

(Psalm 104:24-35)
