Evening Prayer of Praise
"And there was evening, and there was morning - the first day"- Genesis 1:5b.
As the sun begins to set on the first day of our journey let's take time reflect on the "day." God created the day. It belongs to Him. He owns it; by placing His name on it He has taken possession of it. "The day is yours, and yours also the night..." (Psalm 74:16). We have been given this day, and every day, as a gift from God's creative, benevolent, and holy hands and it is to be used for His holy purpose. May we recognize the sacredness of each new day and lift up holy hands in praise that He has called us out of darkness and into His glorious light. And may we consecrate each day of this journey as a holy day set apart and sanctified to the Lord for His holy purposes of preparing His Bride to receive her Bridegroom, when He comes for her on that glorious future Day (Luke 12:40).
"Praise the LORD, O my soul.
O LORD my God, You are very great;
You are clothed with splendor and majesty.
He wraps Himself with light as with a garment;
He stretches out the heavens like a tent
and lays the beams of His upper chambers on their waters.
He makes the clouds His chariot and rides on the wings of the wind.
He makes winds His messengers, flames of fire His servant.
He set the earth on its foundations; it can never be moved."
"You are resplendent with light, more majestic than mountains rich with game."
"Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim You,
Who walk in the light of Your presence, O LORD."
...until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ,
Which God will bring about in His own time -
God, the blessed and only Ruler,
the King of kings and Lord of lords,
who alone is immortal and who lives in unapproachable light,
whom no one has seen or can see.
To Him be honor and might forever. Amen."
(Psalm 104:1-5;76:4; 89:15; 104:105; 1 Timothy 6:14-16)
