Diagnosis: The Body of Christ is not functioning properly as we should. 
We are presenting a distorted view of our Lord's glory, honor, strength, majesty,
 power, wisdom, purity, perfection, beauty and love to the world.
 
At the heart of our problems is a problem with the heart.

We have lost connection with our Head, Christ Jesus,  and our heart no long beats in rhythm with His.   We have lost our passion and zeal for the Lord and have become devoted to so many other things.  Our hearts are growing weak, lethargic, and cowardly - and the Body of Christ is growing increasingly distracted, disjointed, and worldly.

The Lord has given us His prescription for healing in His Word:  2 Chronicles 7:14.
It is time to take those words to heart and actually do what they say.

We have let the world into our hearts, and have given up precious ground that belongs to God alone.  We need to get the world out and let God in.  The Lord wants to possess all of us.  He wants to fill us with more of Himself.  That is why He calls us to fast and pray - so He can empty us to make more room for Himself - more room to fill us with His abundant life (John 10:10). 

Sadly, many believers ignore the call to fast because they would rather be full than filled. 

Most believers aren't willing to walk the difficult path to attain a life of holiness; however, we cannot recover lost power without developing the practice of seeking that inward devotion of His Presence. To become whole and healthy, as the Lord has purposed us to be, we need to do the necessary work and follow the prescribed treatment plan.  This takes time, but the Lord can do a lifetime of work in 40 days if we will simply get out of the way and let Him have His way with us.

The Church has been given the greatest healing ministry in the world, but we can't minister effectively in our present weakened condition.  We have become undisciplined in our devotion to God, and our Heavenly Father is giving us a good dose of spiritual discipline these 40 days.
A spiritual fast that will purify our way of thinking and cleanse our way of living.
May we be humble enough to accept this diagnosis and willing  to set aside our schedules to be nourished in the knowledge of Jesus Christ three times a day for these 40 days, so He can revive our hearts and bring the healing we so desperately need!

"No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful.
Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace
for those who have been trained by it.
Make every effort to live in peace with all men and to be holy;
without holiness no one will see the Lord." 
(Hebrews 11:11, 14)

May we learn to treasure the words of His mouth more than our daily bread!
(Job 23:12)
