HIS HAND
OF FAVOR
"It was not by their sword
that they won the land,
nor did their arm bring them
victory;
it was Your right hand,
Your arm, and
the light of Your face,
for You loved them."
(Psalm 44:2-3)

Day 75

Righteousness Rules

____________________________

Dear Praying Friend,

There is a lot of noise surrounding us today, and a lot of things that captivate our attention and keep us busy.  For most of us our schedules are so jam-packed from sun-up until sundown that we have little time for simply being still.  Now, more than ever, we need to have "ears to hear" what the Lord is saying to His children - He is looking for faithful servants who are willing to listen.  "Be still, and know that I am God" (Psalm 46:10).

As we meditate on Psalm 85:8-9 today, we read that the Israelites were waiting for God's blessings, with their ears tuned in to listen for His word.  They understood that God promises peace for His people, but He desires obedience and love in return.  When we surrender our time to sitting at the feet of Jesus the Lord will bless us with peace. When we are willing to wait on Him we receive confirmation and confidence that He is doing the work, and the challenges before us rest in His hands.  "...I will make peace your governor and righteousness your ruler" (Isaiah 60:17).

"You heavens above, rain down righteousness;
let the clouds shower it down.
Let the earth open wide, let salvation spring up;
let the righteous grow with it; I, the Lord, have created it."
(Isaiah 45:8)

Dear Heavenly Father, we praise You for being a personal and intimate God who speaks to His people.  We thank You each day for the many ways You reveal Yourself to us.  Help us to have ears to hear what You are saying to Your church; help us to be sheep that know our Father's voice, and to have willing hearts to follow with complete confidence.  We cannot know You apart from Your Word; stir in our hearts a desire to seek You more diligently in Your word.  Help us to wait upon You as You reveal deep and hidden things we do not know.  You reveal Your ways to those who are willing to listen.  Give us opportunity in the days ahead to simply be still and listen to You.  May all of Your children delight to spend time with You; eagerly listening to Your still small voice as You whisper words of pleasure, and fill us with all good things.  Give us the peace we need to face this world we live in.  Your righteousness is near.  We will wait for You.  While we wait we will remain in Your truth and sing praises to Your glorious and mighty name.  In Jesus' Name. Amen.

Steadfast in prayer,
