HIS HAND
OF FAVOR
"It was not by their sword
that they won the land,
nor did their arm bring them
victory;
it was Your right hand,
Your arm, and
the light of Your face,
for You loved them."
(Psalm 44:2-3)

Day 70

The Signature of God
_______________________________

Dear Praying Friend,

Yesterday we reflected on all the memorials of stone that stand as a testimony of God's faithfulness and love to His people.  In the Scriptures His name literally means "memorial" (reference Psalm 30:4 NIV; Isaiah 26:8). His name is the Rock upon which we stand.  The name of the Lord is what gave David the courage and strength to do battle with the enemy. "You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the LORD Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defiled"  (1 Samuel 17:45).  Man has attempted to profane, defile, dispute, disregard, and outlaw the name of Jesus, but His name will forever stand, and everyone will one day bow before His mighty and holy name.

"Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place
and gave Him the name that is above every name,
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father."
(Philippians 2:9-11)

As we meditate on Psalm 33:20-22 today, we find the nation waiting expectantly upon the Lord for His hand to move; and while they waited they rejoiced.  They had just offered up a beautiful prayer of praise to the Lord for His unfailing love and faithfulness, reminding themselves, and God, that His purposes for His people would prevail, and they rejoiced with confidence, peace, and assurance in their God.  May we never fail to offer Jesus the honor, reverence, glory, and praise that is due His holy name - remembering that we belong to Him.  "...everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made"  (Isaiah 43:7).

"But let all who take refuge in You be glad;
let them ever sing for joy.
Spread Your protection over them,
that those who love Your name may rejoice in You.
For surely, O LORD, You bless the righteous;
You surround them with Your favor as with a shield."
(Psalm 5:11-12)

Dear Heavenly Father, holy is Your name.  To Your name be the glory, because of Your love and faithfulness.  Your name, O Lord, is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.  How wonderful and beautiful is Your holy name.  We revere Your glorious and awesome name.  At Your name, Lord, every knee will bow.  We praise You that everyone who calls on Your name will be saved.  Thank You that we can come to You, with confidence, knowing that whatever we ask in Your name You will do. O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth! Forgive us for defiling Your glorious name. Our lips were meant to praise Your name.  We will ascribe to the Lord the glory due His name. We will sing praises to Your name. Praise be to His glorious name forever; may the whole earth be filled with His glory. Amen. In the holy and exalted name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

Steadfast in prayer,
