HIS HAND
OF FAVOR
"It was not by their sword
that they won the land,
nor did their arm bring them
victory;
it was Your right hand,
Your arm, and
the light of Your face,
for You loved them."

Day 68

Hand-Picked

Dear Praying Friend,

The United States of America was founded, and fought for, by men and women who believed in God's divine plan to build a city on a hill that would be a lighthouse of hope to the world.  They answered God's call to follow Him on an extraordinary mission trip, not seeking treasure, but bringing the greatest treasure to those lost in darkness. In obedience to God's will, and with a commitment to see His message of truth, justice, and righteousness prevail in the world, these courageous and faithful pilgrims and pioneers risked everything to lay the spiritual foundation that birthed this great nation.

As we meditate on Psalm 33:12-15 today, the psalmist proclaims the status of the nation that is devoted to God and who willingly, and obediently, puts their trust in the Lord and His commands - this nation will be blessed!  Just as the Lord set apart His chosen nation, Israel, to bear witness that God is the One, True, and Living God, and through them brought light and salvation to the Gentiles, so too, His purposes have paved the way for America to be a distinct nation among nations who has been blessed to be a blessing to others so the gospel message can reach the four corners of the earth.

History reveals the rich blessings we have reaped for the spiritual seeds that were sown in the early years of this nation.  Israel is God's chosen nation, but America has been hand-picked to be a part of His amazing plan to bring His salvation message to the world.  We can only accomplish this divine commission so long as His hand of blessing remains upon us, and that will happen only as long as we remain under His protective rule and recognize Him as the Lord God.  May we remain faithful in prayer for the leaders of our nation, the Church, and for believers everywhere to return to the foundation we were built upon - Jesus Christ - and submit to Him with wholehearted devotion and reverence as our God and King!

"How will anyone know that You are pleased with me
and with Your people unless You go with us?
What else will distinguish me and Your people
from all the other people on the face of the earth?"
(Exodus 33:16)

Dear Heavenly Father, we praise You for Your wondrous plan to bring Your message of light and truth through Your beloved people Israel.  We offer our gratitude for including us in Your great plan of redemption.  Your chosen nation has experienced a hardening in part until Your purposes for all people are fulfilled.  Lord, may we not stand in the way of Your plan; forgive us for our complacency and apathy.  We have grown lazy and distracted by this temporal world when we should be diligently studying Your word and preparing for Your return.  We have forgotten our call as pilgrims and have pitched our tents instead of following the path of Your kingdom, keeping our eyes focused on our eternal home.  Lord, our dwelling place is with You.  You have commissioned us to share Your message of salvation with the world.  Lord, allow Your word to spark a flame inside Your children and start a fire that will bring light to the dark corners of this earth and consume the world with Your love.  We want Your hand of blessing to remain upon us so we can bear witness to Your truth, Your unfailing love, faithfulness, mercy, and grace.  May we continue to be set apart to do Your will, and may every nation see the mighty hand of God upon us as You use us to accomplish Your plans for all people, as well as, Your chosen people, Israel.  In Jesus' Name. Amen.

Steadfast in prayer,
