Day 67
Steady Hand
___________________________
Dear Praying Friend,
We've learned from experience that not all change is good change. Yet "change" is the first thing that people look for when life gets out of control or times get difficult. People make a mad dash towards a new or different direction hoping to get away from, avoid, or forget the current path they are on. What we really need to run towards is the tried and true path, the path of assurance, that path that doesn't change, the path that is steady - the path that is all this and more - the path of God!
As we meditate on Psalm 33:10-11 today, we read that man has tried endlessly to challenge the plans of God, but to no avail. God has made a perfect plan (that actually includes the men that stand against Him) and He will see it through to the end, regardless of the vain attempts man tries to make to thwart His plans. With one hand He can paint the morning sky and with the other He can destroy a nation. How can man even think he has even the slightest amount of power to challenge such majesty? We need to throw up our feeble hands in surrender to the strong and steady hand of God.
"Why do the nations conspire
and the peoples plot in vain?
The kings of the earth take their stand
and the rulers gather together against the LORD
and against His Anointed One.
"Let us break their chains," they say,
"and throw off their fetters."
The One enthroned in heaven laughs;
the Lord scoffs at them.
Then He rebukes them in His anger
and terrifies them in His wrath..."
(Psalm 2:1-5)
Dear Heavenly Father, when the earth and all its people quake it is You who holds its pillars firm. Where do we get the idea that we can change or challenge anything that You do. Your way is the proven way to righteousness, justice, peace, goodness, blessings, security, and so much more. What better way do we think we could possibly find apart from You? There is good and evil in the world - You are everything good and everything You do is good. You are not a man, You do not lie, You do not change Your mind. What You have promised You will fulfill, what You have established will come to pass. You made the earth by Your power and founded the world by Your wisdom. You stretched out the heavens by Your understanding. What can man do that could even begin to compare to that? Forgive us when we in our ignorance challenge You. Forgive us when we consult man instead of God. We may not always understand Your ways, but all we need to remember is that Your ways are higher; Your ways are better; Your ways are perfect. Teach me to walk in Your ways and to stand on Your firm foundation. Help me to throw off the things of the flesh that hinder me and run towards You. You are all that I need, everything else can fade away. I long to see Your purposes fulfilled in my generation. How awesome and wondrous are Your ways. I will praise Your glorious name always. In Jesus' Name. Amen.
Steadfast in prayer,
