HIS HAND
OF FAVOR
"It was not by their sword
that they won the land,
nor did their arm bring them
victory;
it was Your right hand,
Your arm, and
the light of Your face,
for You loved them."
(Psalm 44:2-3)

Day 58

The Hand I Desire!
________________________________

Dear Praying Friend,

A wondrous new year, prepared by God, lies in front of us.  As the worldly makes their resolutions to lose weight, get in shape, acquire more, and strive for greater success, may we, as believers and fully committed followers of Jesus Christ, resolve to begin this year with only one object and goal in mind: to experience a deeper more intimate relationship with our Lord.  "Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart" (Psalm 37:4).

As we meditate on Psalm 27:4 today, we come to a verse that beautifully articulates this high and worthy goal that should be the utmost desire in the heart of every believer, every year of our life.  As we continue our focus on the faithfulness of God, may we resolve to live a life of faithfulness to the One who will never leave or forsake us.  May we pursue Him with wholehearted devotion in 2013.

"One thing I ask of the LORD,
this is what I seek:
that I may dwell in the house of the LORD
all the days of my life,
to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD
and to seek Him in His temple."
(Psalm 27:4)

For many believers, our one desire is to be with our Lord; we long for that day when we will spend eternity in His glorious presence.  Until that time, however, we have the divine opportunity, each and every day, to spend intimate time with our Lord in His Word and in prayer.

The Lord honored Mary for making that very wise choice when she set all else aside to sit at the feet of Jesus: "But only one thing is needed.  Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken from her" (Luke 10:42).  May we be as willing, and intentional, about the time we carve out each day to spend with our Lord and make our relationship with Him our utmost priority this year - everything else will fall into perfect place when we do!

Dear Heavenly Father, this personal prayer of David's is my heart's cry as I look at the new year that lies before me.  There is nothing else I desire in this world but to spend time with You, to sit in Your presence, and to listen to Your voice.  When I am with You I am safe and secure.  My worries are few and my concerns are small.  You fill me with such peace and hope when I meditate on Your Holy Word.  You have taught me to trust in You and to depend on You for everything.  You have fulfilled all Your promises and You have never failed me.  You are always by my side.  Your words are my joy and my heart's delight.  Your still small voice whispers comfort and joy to my heart.  Your hand hold me tight and keeps me safe.  Morning, noon, and night I will meet with You, for You are my hearts' desire. I will not let Your Word depart from me, for I know that You will be with me wherever I go.  Lead me down paths of righteousness this year for Your name's sake.  May I proclaim Your love every morning and Your faithfulness every night.  Find pleasure in me as I take delight in You.  You are the love of my life and the delight of my heart.  I rejoice in Your glorious and awesome name.  May You be highly exalted and praised forever!  In Jesus' Name. Amen.

Steadfast in prayer,
Traci Alexander
