HIS HAND
OF FAVOR
"It was not by their sword
that they won the land,
nor did their arm bring them
victory;
it was Your right hand,
Your arm, and
the light of Your face,
for You loved them."

Day 57

Faithful Hand

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Dear Praying Friend,

As we have been meditating and praying with the psalmists these past two months we have focused on three important attributes of the hand of God:  His faithfulness, unfailing love, and righteousness.  These next three weeks, as we embark on a wondrous new year ahead of us and continue our 77 days of prayer, we will focus on these holy attributes and respond, in kind, with faith, worship, and action.  May we be ever faithful to the Word of God and prayer in 2013 as we look to the one Who holds us in His hands and is "the stronghold of my life" (Psalm 27:1).

Today, as we begin meditating on Psalm 27:1-3, we will focus on the faithfulness of God.  With the rising tide of natural disasters, intensifying hostility towards Israel, and increasing immorality and corruption,  we need to turn our hearts to the Lord now more than ever - as David does in the open verses of his prayer.  He understands that his security comes from the Lord alone: "The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble" (Psalm 9:9).  We must remember that the troubled times we are facing are not out of God's Sovereign hand. He is bringing all things together and is using these tribulations to call our attention to Himself that we might place our confidence and trust in Him as reveals His faithfulness in all He does. This year, may we resolve to depend more fully on  His mighty hand and draw closer to His heart.

"You will hear of wars and rumors of wars,
but see to it that you are not alarmed.
Such things must happen, but the end is still to come.
Nations will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.
There will be famines and earthquakes in various places.
All these are the beginning of birth pains."
(Matthew 24:6-8)

Dear Heavenly Father, You are faithful in all that You do.  We praise You that we can place our confidence in You as the world around us is dramatically shifting and changing in the times and seasons we are living in.  We know that nothing that is happening is outside Your hand of control.  We pray for the protection of Your people who are in areas of leadership or who are facing the challenges of being on the frontlines of these battles. Awaken Your people to recognize Your hand at work, and to respond to Your promptings to become diligent students of the Word and faithful in prayer.  Lord, You are faithful to all Your promises and loving to all that You have made.  Your plans will be fulfilled in Your time.  Give us the perseverance and patience we need to stand firm in these days.  May we not become fearful, but rather be faithful, as we place our confidence in You.  We praise You for this past year and all that Your hands have accomplished.  We thank You that Your hand has been upon each and every one of us personally - comforting us, guiding us, protecting us, preparing us.  Thank You for moving our hearts to respond to Your desire to spend intimate time with us each day.  May we respond with greater passion and pursuit of Your holy name in this new year You have set before us.  Our lives are in Your hands as we trust in Your faithfulness and love.  May all that we do in this new year bring glory, honor, and praise to Your holy name. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

Steadfast in prayer,
