Day 53
His Confident Hand
________________________________
Dear Praying Friend,
Often, when times get real difficult, or we are blindsided by a trial we were not prepared for, we can begin to question if God has removed His hand of protection on us. When we consider the faithful life of Daniel, or of his three friends, we see that it was when they were faithfully walking in the will of God and being obedient, that they went through their greatest trials. We must remember that when our Master Potter wants to mold us and shape us further into His glorious image it takes pressure from the Creators' hands to accomplish that work.
As we meditate on Psalm 143:3-4 today, the psalmist is expressing his dismay at the attacks he has been subject to. He has become overwhelmed by the situation he is in and beginning to lose heart. "O LORD, when you favored me, you made my mountain stand firm, but when you hid your face, I was dismayed" (Psalm 30:7). We must not allow the pressures of this world or the attacks of the enemy to cause us to question our confidence in our faithful and trustworthy God (read today's Epiphany devotional on the worship of God (Day 3)).
"Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD,
whose confidence is in Him."
(Jeremiah 17:7)
Dear Heavenly Father, how blessed we are that You are always concerned about Your us and that Your hand is always upon us. When our circumstances become so overwhelming help us to see clearly how close you are holding us so we do not become dismayed and lose heart. Forgive us when we allow our times of distress to cause us to look inward instead of upward. In You is where we need to place our hope. In all things help us to look to You and abide even closer still in Your compassionate arms. Help us to not throw away our confidence, remembering that it will be richly rewarded. As the days grow increasingly more challenging, and our circumstances more uncertain, guide us to be even more committed to spending time in Your word and in prayer. We will depend on the LORD our God. How grateful we are that in Christ Jesus we may approach the Father with confidence and freedom. In Your name we place our confidence and trust. In Jesus' Name. Amen.
Steadfast in prayer,
