HIS HAND
OF FAVOR
"It was not by their sword
that they won the land,
nor did their arm bring them
victory;
it was Your right hand,
Your arm, and
the light of Your face,
for You loved them."

Day 44

Life-saving Hand

________________________________

Dear Praying Friend,

As troubling and difficult times are causing many people to grow weary and lose hope, we, as Christians, can persevere and overcome because we know the One Who is the hope of the world.  Through God's power, and our faith in Him, we are being protected for a future hope.  We simply need to raise our hands and grasp the One Who will rescue us from the depths of sin and trouble. "Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God" (Colossians 3:1).

As we meditate on Psalm 130:1-2, the psalmist cries out from the deep waters that are overtaking him.  He realizes that only His God can save him, for he knows the Lord is trustworthy.  However,  he longs for assurance that he will not have to dwell long in the depths of the sea, but, instead, be lifted to the heights.  As believers, we know what it means to be rescued from the depths of hopelessness and despair.  Let us pray with deeply sensitive hearts for those who are drowning in a sea of desperation today that they may reach out for the life-saving Hand of God and find help and hope in their time of need.

"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ!
In His great mercy He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
 and into an inheritance that can never perish,
spoil, or fade - kept in heaven for you,
who through faith are shielded by God's power
until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed
in the last time.  In this you greatly rejoice, though now
for a little while you may have had to suffer grief
 in all kinds of trials.
These have come so that your faith - of greater worth than gold,
which perishes even though refined by fire -
may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.
Though you have not seen Him, you love Him;
and even though you do not see Him now, you believe in Him
and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy,
for you are receiving the goal of your faith,
the salvation of your souls."
(1Peter 1:3-9)

Dear Heavenly Father, I praise You morning, noon, and night, for You are always with me.  Sometimes it feels like the ground is shifting beneath my feet, and I am drowning in a sea of adversity, but I know that You are God my Rock.  You are my firm foundation when the world is shaking and everything around me is falling apart.  You have lifted me out of the mud and mire and set me on a rock and you gave me a firm place to stand.  Our bodies will grow weak and fail, the people around us may disappoint and leave us, we may lose our jobs, and our finances may pour like sand through our fingertips, but You are always constant, You are always faithful.  We may not know what to do in these difficult times, but our eyes are fixed upon You. Give us patience and endurance as You take us through this cleansing, purifying and refining process. You are trustworthy, faithful and loving. Those who hope in You will renew their strength.  They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.  In You will I put my trust. Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; let Your glory be over all the earth. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

Steadfast in prayer,
