HIS HAND
OF FAVOR
"It was not by their sword
that they won the land,
nor did their arm bring them
victory;
it was Your right hand,
Your arm, and
the light of Your face,
for You loved them."

Day 43

Trustworthy Guide

Dear Praying Friend,

The more time we spend with the Lord, in His Word and in prayer, the greater our understanding becomes of Who He is and how He works; as our understanding grows so does our level of trust. The more we abide in Him the more we realize that there is nothing out of His control and nothing that He wants to keep from us if we will simply put our trust in Him and obey His will. Everything He does is to draw us closer to Him.  Every step of the path He has placed in front of us is to guide us into deeper union with Him.

As we begin our meditation of Psalm 130 today, we join another psalmist crying out to His trustworthy Lord for help. This psalm is the sixth of the seven penitential psalms we will be meditating on, and it is also the 10th in the series of the songs of ascents.  The "ascents" are like the stairway leading to the temple.  With every step that we take we are led further into the presence of the Lord. The more time we spend in His presence, the more we realize there is no place we would rather be. If we are willing to trust Him, the Lord will guide us into the most extraordinary love relationship we could ever hope to know.

"Yet I am always with you;
you hold me by my right hand.
You guide me with your counsel,
and afterward you will take me into glory.
Whom have I in heaven but you?
And earth has nothing I desire besides you.
My flesh and my heart may fail,
but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever."
(Psalm 73:23-26)

Dear Heavenly Father, Your Word promises that if we 'Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.'  You have never failed on one word of that promise.  Our desire is to dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of our life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to seek You in Your temple. You desire for Your children to gather close to You and put their trust in You and even if we are too weak to make that climb, You will meet us where we are and take us by the hand and carry us to that appointed place you have purposed for us.  There is no place You desire us more to be than abiding in the shelter of the Most High and trusting completely in You.  You love us so much.  Why do we look any place else to fulfill our hearts' desire when You created our hearts to be filled with You?  Forgive us Lord.  You have proven Yourself over and over to be trustworthy - everywhere we turn the world, and all its' people, let us down time and time again. Help us to not be tempted to look in that direction, but to fix our eyes on You. I will trust in Your unfailing love; my heart rejoice in Your salvation.  I will sing to You, O Lord, for You have been good to me.  Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You. I will wait for You, Lord. As we put our trust in You, may You fill us with all joy and peace so that we may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

Steadfast in prayer,
