HIS HAND
OF FAVOR
"It was not by their sword
that they won the land,
nor did their arm bring them
victory;
it was Your right hand,
Your arm, and
the light of Your face,
for You loved them."
(Psalm 44:2-3)

Day 28

Falling into His Hands

_____________________________

Dear Praying Friend,

If you've ever had an emergency that required dialing 9-1-1, and then had to wait for the emergency response team to arrive, those moments of waiting can seem like a lifetime when your life (or the life of your loved one) is hanging in the balance.   It is in times of crisis that we find ourselves desperately turning to the Lord and crying out for Him to rescue us, because we know that in those moments His response is the only One that can save us.

As we come to the end of our meditation on Psalm 38:17-22 today, David is making his third appeal to the Lord, seeking His hand to rescue him from enemies who have no cause for their accusations and slander.  He has been waiting on the Lord, his Helper, but feels he is near death and is desperate for an immediate response.  "But you, O LORD, be not far off; O my Strength, come quickly to help me" (Psalm 22:19).  In desperate times we must not grow impatient and accuse God of not working on our behalf - He is our Creator, the Maker of heaven and earth, and His plans will be perfected (and presented) at their proper time.

Our Lord has promised to uphold and rescue His righteous ones who live by faith.  "...for though a righteous man falls seven times, he rises again..." (Proverbs 24:16).  We may fall down (or get knocked down), but that should not stop us getting back up, dusting off our knees, and being willing to take whatever blows come our way. As His children, we can rest confidently in the knowledge that, "neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 8:38-39).

"To Him Who is able to keep you from falling
and to present you before His glorious presence
without fault and with great joy -
to the only God our Savior
be glory, majesty, power and authority,
through Jesus Christ our Lord,
before all ages, now and forevermore. Amen."
(Jude :24)

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that You are never far away; on the contrary, You are always close at hand.  Lord, when we stumble You will not let us fall, for You uphold us with Your hand. You tell us in Your word to 'cast all your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous fall.'  There is so much uncertainty, turmoil, and chaos in this world today, but because of who You are, we, Your children, have nothing to fear.  No one can withstand Your people when You are with us, Lord.  Our hope and  certainty rest in You.  Sometimes it feels like we are free-falling, when in fact, we are soaring on the wing.  Thank You for hearing our cries and coming to our rescue.  Lord, You delight in those who fear You, who put their hope in Your unfailing love.  How blessed we are to be the recipients of Your unfailing love.  I love You, O Lord, my strength. You are faithful to all Your promises and loving to all You have made.  You uphold all those who fall and lift up all who are bowed down.  I will lift up my eyes to the hills and remember that my help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. Thank You for being there to catch me when I fall. Help me to let go of what I am holding onto and allow everything to rest in Your capable hands - knowing You will work everything out in Your perfect timing - for my good and Your glory. We will continue to wait upon You.  Praise be to Your glorious name forever!  We long for the day when the whole earth will be filled with Your glory. We thank You for those who are daily risking their lives to bring the good news of Your salvation to all people around the world. We ask for their safety and protection as they continue to do the work You have called them to do. Let no harm befall Your righteous ones, Lord, for 'He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.'  Let none of them fall, Lord -gather them all to safety, we pray, in Jesus' Name. Amen.

Steadfast in Prayer,
