Day 7
Helping Hand
____________________________________
Dear Praying Friend,
The Scriptures tell us that our ways are not God's ways; gratefully, His ways are "higher than our ways" (reference Isaiah 55:8-9). This is evident as we consider the ways He prepares the steps of His people. His path is often the road less traveled - not always painfree - but always pointed in the right direction. While we may not often comprehend the route we are traveling we can trust it is a path He has already taken. His footprints are not visible because He does not walk on shifting sand, instead, He treads on a firm foundation - He is our Rock! As we come to the end of our meditation of Psalm 77 (verses 19 & 20) we read that the Lord "led" them. Our great Shepherd does not leave His flock to fend for themselves or to find their own way. No! He leads the way. He simply requires His people to go forward in faith. We have been given our marching orders in Matthew 28:18-20, and we must continue marching forward, upward, onward, and out to the tune of His promise: "And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age" (v.20). "The LORD reigns, let the nations tremble; He sits enthroned between the cherubim, let the earth shake. Great is the LORD in Zion; He is exalted over all the nations. Let them praise Your great and awesome name - He is holy. The King is mighty, He loves justice - You have established equity; in Jacob You have done what is just and right. Exalt the LORD our God and worship at His footstool; He is holy. Moses and Aaron were among His priests, Samuel was among those who called on His name; they called on the LORD and He answered them. He spoke to them from the pillar of cloud; they kept His statutes and the decrees He gave them. O LORD our God, You answered them; You were to Israel a forgiving God, though You punished their misdeeds. Exalt the LORD our God and worship at His holy mountain, for the LORD our God is holy." (Psalm 99) Dear Heavenly Father, we praise You that Your hand is upon us and Your hand is there to help us. You are the potter and we are the clay. Sometimes Your plans are painful as You are shaping us do Your will, however, we praise You all the more because it is Your hand that is upon us. Lord, we don't always understand the path that is before us, but we trust it is the path You have prepared for us as we walk in Your will. You have led Your people on paths through the desert, water, fire, and storm; through plagues and battles; and in the face of death and destruction. You have carried Your chosen ones down Your preferred and appointed path using unlikely vehicles like slavery, and even a great fish, all that Your glory might be revealed and the multitudes might be saved. Lord, we ask that You would raise up godly men, as You have in times past, who have boldly braved the difficult path, to lead Your people down the paths of righteousness for Your Name's sake. We praise You for Your promise that You will never leave us nor forsake us - You are our helper and we will not be afraid. As Your trusting children, Abba, we place our hand in Yours (we are holding on tightly!) - we will follow in Your steps wherever You desire us to go. In Jesus' Name. Amen.
