Becoming Broken Bread     
"The Lord Jesus, on the night He was betrayed,
took bread, and when He had given thanks,
He broke it and said,
'This is My body, which is for you,
do this in remembrance of Me."
(1 Corinthians 11:23-24)

Dear Praying Friend & 40 Day Feaster,
The Scriptures provide for us the key to restoration and revival:  "In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength" (Isaiah 30:15).  Our strength, in times of trial and weakness, is dependent upon our taking time to rest.  It is only when we are willing to take a holy time-out, fix our eyes on the Lord, and seek Him in His Word that we find the grace we need for restoration. This season of fasting, which so many across this nation are taking part in, is a gracious gift from the Sovereign hand of our loving Lord who has called us to return to Him and find rest as we wait upon Him. "The LORD your God is giving you rest and has granted you this land" (Joshua 1:13).  We may be living in uncertain and difficult times, but we can be certain that the Lord, who guided this nation from its birth, will fulfill His purposes in His perfect timing.  As we continue to pray for our nation, may we use this time to turn our hearts fully to the Lord; diligently seeking Him in His Word and daily offering our petitions and praises in prayer, just as our founding fathers did, so we can be made "strong, firm, and steadfast" (1 Peter 5:10) for what lies ahead. "The one who calls you is faithful and He will do it" (1 Thessalonians 5:24).
"Yet the LORD longs to be gracious to you;
He rises to show you compassion.
For the LORD is a God of justice.
Blessed are all who wait for Him!"
(Isaiah 30:18)
 
Learning to be still in times of crisis wars against our natural "fight or flight" human impulses.  But there is great blessing and victory to be gained in being still in the presence of the Lord (Exodus 14:13-14).  I pray that while others may be worrying and wondering about what the future may hold, you are finding extraordinary peace and refreshment during these 40 days as the Lord "leads you beside quiet waters, [and] restores your soul" (Psalm 23:2b, 3a), and nourishes you from the deep well of living water that is His Word.  "The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving my soul" (Psalm 19:7a).  May you be experiencing your own personal revival as you continue to soak in His Presence.
The Lord has purposed rest in our daily and weekly schedules for our restoration.  He knows it is necessary to our well-being that we find time for rest; as well as vital to our usefulness in impacting the lives of others with the grace and goodness of God.  Your obedience and willingness to submit to the Lord with prayer and fasting during these 40 days has placed you in the company of many faithful servants whom God has used to deliver and restore their nation (i.e. Moses, Esther, and Daniel to name a few!).  May you, like them, find you have gained far more than you ever gave up:  Renewed vision to see clearly from God's perspective (2 Corinthians 4:18; Hebrews 12:2), restored hearing that is finely tuned to the Master's voice (John 10:27), and revived strength to operate fully in the Spirit's power (Zechariah 4:6).  "It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect" (Psalm 18:32).  May the Lord use what He has poured into you to refresh, strengthen, and revive another weary, wounded or wandering soul.
"For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom His whole family in heaven and on earth derives its name.  I pray that out of His glorious riches He may strengthen you with power through His Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith.  And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge - that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God" (Ephesians 3:14-19).
  
Heavenly Father,
"I love you, O LORD, my strength.
The LORD is my rock, my fortress,
my deliverer; my God is my rock,
in whom I take refuge.
He is my shield and the horn of my salvation,
my stronghold." (Psalm 18:1-2)
I come to You as the Restorer of my soul.
You "give strength to the weary and increase
the power of the weak." (Isaiah 40:29).
"The LORD is the strength of my life." (Psalm 27:1)
Let me drink deeply from Your "river of delights"
and find refreshment for my soul.
"Create in me a pure heart, O God,
and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
Do not cast me from Your presence
or take Your Holy Spirit from me.
Restore to me the joy of Your salvation
and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me."
(Psalm 51:10-12)
Wake me morning by morning,
wake my ear to listen as one being taught
so I can know the word that sustains
the weary. (Isaiah 50:4) Strengthen me with the power
of Your might, so I can refresh others and
arm them with Your goodness, grace and love.
"Restore us to Yourself, O LORD,
that we may return; renew our days as of old."
(Lamentations 5:21)
 
Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more
than all we ask or imagine, according to His power
that is at work within us, to Him
be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus
throughout all generations, forever and ever!(Ephesians 3:20-21)
