How Hard Is It Too Rest?
Robert Forster, PT CEO
AUGUST 12, 2016

Today is a total rest day for Allyson Felix as she readies for her date with destiny starting tomorrow with the first round of the 400m event. The 6X Olympic medalist is competing in her 4th Olympic Games and looks to become the most meddled Track and Field athlete of all time with a possible three more Gold medals in these Rio Games.

Smart athletes and coaches know that hard work is useless if time for recovery is not provided. It's only with recovery that all the benefits of the hard work is realized. Recovery is when your body adapts to the stress of training and only then does fitness evolve.

Sounds easy, right? Unfortunately most elite athletes I meet today have a hard time shutting the training down and consistently try to squeeze in last minute workouts in an effort to gain more fitness. Instead they wind up competing with lingering fatigue that robs their ability to truly peak for their event.

When highly gifted athletes listen to coaches with good science and allow for more recovery then we see truly amazing performances and World Records!
Coach Bobby Kersee has provided Allyson with more recovery by  tapering her workouts for three weeks now and each week she gets stronger and faster. The stop watch doesn't lie.

So today after a midday ankle treatment and recovery massage Allyson will stay off her feet, eat well and hydrate and avoid the uncertainty and insecurity most athletes and coaches suffer when they  don't trust the science of recovery!

American Mom Wins Medal in Sixth Straight Olympics

August 12, 2016
Kaylee Pofahl

When Kimberly Rhode won bronze for the United States in women's skeet shooting on Friday in Rio de Janeiro, she became the first woman to win an individual medal in six consecutive Olympics, a streak that began in Atlanta in 1996.

She won her sixth medal in a shootoff against China's Wei Ming to become the most decorated female shooter in Olympic history.
Apparently, when Rhode tweeted, "there's always room for one more" after the Closing Ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics, she was serious.

Now the first Olympian to earn a medal on five continents, half of Rhode's medal collection is gold - including the one she won in London where she unknowingly competed while pregnant with her son Carter. The mom-to-be didn't realize that she was expecting until more than a month after the Games concluded.
Only Italian luger Armin Zoeggeler has matched the 37-year-old Rhode's feat, medaling in six straight Winter Olympics.

After taking up shooting when she was 10 years old, the California native won her first world championship just three years later.

Despite the progress of the sneaker game, there's always the thought of "what if." Imagine competitive brands coming together to fuse their technology or what if a certain colorway was produced instead of the one already existing on the shelf. As a result of curiosity, concept artist FlyFreshCustoms placed a twist on some silhouettes such as the Nike Flyknit Racer, adidas Ultra Boost and Air Jordan Future. Take a look at some of the creations above and let us know your thoughts.
