ReadUp, Greenville's inaugural festival for Teens and Children, is coming to the Peace Center on August 6th! They need your help spreading the word to other kids and parents. The event will feature over 20 authors including Jay Asher, Maggie Stiefvater, Cassie Beasley, and Holly Goldberg Sloan. The 3 keynote events are ticketed but all the other panels are free. Help us make this year's event a success so that it will become an ongoing annual event!

A new young adult and middle grade book festival called Read Up is coming to the Peace Center in downtown Greenville! The first festival will be August 6th. There will be book sales, author signings, panel discussions, and keynote speeches by Jay Asher, Holly Goldberg Sloan, and Jason Reynolds and Brendan Kiely. Come meet South Carolina native children's author Kristy Dempsey and learn about being a superhero with her new picture book, Superhero Instruction Manual (Alfred A. Knopf, hardcover, $16.99). Elementary Educators Night: Thursday, August 25th, 4pm @ Fiction Addiction, FREE*
Elementary teachers and librarians are invited to our inaugural FREE elementary educators event at Fiction Addiction! We will be serving wine and cheese, handing out gift bags with free children's books, and discussing the topic of author visits -- how to get them at a discount and how to make the visits successful! Speakers will include Jill Hendrix, Fiction Addiction owner; Malinda Edmonston, media specialist at Pelham Road Elementary; and Jane Robertson, retired media specialist at Northwood Middle. Attendees will also receive a 20% discount on any merchandise purchased that day. Teachers can earn professional development credit by submitting your attendance at this event to Candice Moore (cvmoore@greenville.k12.sc.us) as an out of district activity.*Note: This event is free, but please RSVP to Fiction Addiction so we know how many gift bags to prepare.
