Fiction Addiction and The Spartanburg Writing Project Present a FREE Book Talk & Signing with National Book Award-Winning Author Sherman Alexie at USC Upstate in Spartanburg

Fiction Addiction and The Spartanburg Writing Project present a FREE* event with National Book Award-winning author of The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian, Sherman Alexie. He will be discussing his career as a writer, including his first children's picture book, Thunder Boy Jr. (Little, Brown & Co., hardcover, $17.99), at a book talk and signing at the University Readiness Center at USC Upstate (located at 800 University Way, Spartanburg, SC 29303 -- see directions below) on Monday, September 19th, at 6:30 pm. Seating will be on a first-come, first served basis.

*Attending this event is free, but a purchase of Thunder Boy Jr. from Fiction Addiction (in advance or at the event) is required to join the signing line. Mr. Alexie will sign other books as long as they are accompanied by at least one copy of the new book. Books will be available for sale prior to and at the event. Books may be purchased online, at the store, or by calling Fiction Addiction at 864-675-0540.

Directions to the University Readiness Center:
The University Readiness Center is located on North Campus Blvd. Take I-85 from Greenville, exit onto I-585, then exit onto Valley Falls Rd. Once you cross the bridge on Valley Falls Rd., take the SECOND right. That is N. Campus Blvd. Go through the four-way stop and the URC will be on your left.

About Thunder Boy Jr.:
Thunder Boy Jr. is named after his dad, but he wants a name that's all his own. Just because people call his dad Big Thunder doesn't mean he wants to be Little Thunder. He wants a name that celebrates something cool he's done, like Touch the Clouds, Not Afraid of Ten Thousand Teeth, or Full of Wonder.

But just when Thunder Boy Jr. thinks all hope is lost, he and his dad pick the perfect name...a name that is sure to light up the sky.

National Book Award-winner Sherman Alexie's lyrical text and Caldecott Honor-winner Yuyi Morales's striking and beautiful illustrations celebrate the special relationship between father and son.

About the author:
A National Book Award-winning author, poet, and filmmaker, Sherman Alexie is one of the most well-known and beloved literary writers of his generation. His works of fiction, including The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian, Reservation Blues, and The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven, have received numerous awards and citations. He lives in Seattle. Like Thunder Boy Jr., Sherman was named for his father.

If you cannot make the event, you can reserve a personalized copy of the author's book by contacting Fiction Addiction in advance at 864-675-0540 or at info@fiction-addiction.com.
