Hannah Papp If you're tired of reacting to life and instead want to turn proactive, let author Hannah Papp teach you how to go on a modern vision quest with her book, The Mystical Backpacker: How to Discover Your Destiny in the Modern World (Beyond Words, paperback, $16.00). Part memoir, part guidebook, The Mystical Backpacker invites you to explore your inner terrain and learn how to create your own unique version of a modern day vision quest or walk-about.

After Hannah finished her undergraduate degree, she attended graduate school at an American-accredited university in Budapest, Hungary. It was from this locale -- embittered by love and disillusioned by Eastern Europe -- that she became a Mystical Backpacker. Today, she is the founding owner of an award-winning business in Washington, DC, and is a seminar leader, blogger, and soul coach in the mind, body, and spirit field.

Tracy Crow Perhaps you've resolved to share your life story with friends and family... If so, Tracy Crow, author of On Point: A Guide to Writing the Military Story (Potomac Books, paperback, $19.95), will offer nonfiction writing advice, especially for those writing about traumatic experiences. On Point is the guide Crow wishes she'd had when she first began writing about her military experiences.

Tracy is a former Marine Corps officer and an award-winning military journalist. Her essays and short stories have been published widely and been nominated for three Pushcart Prizes. She is the author of Eyes Right: Confessions from a Woman Marine and Red, White, and True: Stories from Veterans and Families, World War II to Present.

Vally SharpePerhaps you've resolved to improve your relationships with friends and family... If so, Vally Sharpe, co-publisher of FPS Publishing and author of The Gospel According to Emily (United Writers Press, paperback, $14.95), will talk about empathy and point of view in both relationships and fiction. In this imagined memoir, Emily Carpenter reveals the inside story about her son Andrew and the events that would change her life and the lives of everyone he touched, exploring what it might have been like if Jesus had come into the modern world and Mary had written the story of his life from her point of view.

Vally first became involved in publishing when she self-published her own book in 2001. She was the 2004 Georgia Author of the Year in the Inspirational/Religious category, and was president of the Georgia Writers Association from 2004-2007. She co-founded United Writers Press, a pre-press resource for independent publishers, in 2004. She is also a co-publisher of Fiction Addiction Publishing Services. Vally lives in Asheville, NC, with her best friend, Jan, and her kitty muse, Sally.

If you cannot make the event, you can reserve a personalized copy of any of the authors' books by contacting Fiction Addiction in advance at 864-675-0540 or at [email protected].
