Launch Party for South Carolina Poet Patrick L. Washington
Upstate South Carolina poet Patrick L. Washington will celebrate the launch of his poetry collection, Praying for God's Glory...Poems About Life (AuthorHouse, paperback, $14.95), at his launch party at Fiction Addiction on Saturday, December 12th, from 2-4pm. This event is free and open to the public, and refreshments will be served.
From the author:
"Over 15 years ago, God spoke to my heart and caused me to write a poem entitled 'Trouble Man praying for God's Glory.' Essentially this book is formed around that poem, because I was indeed a troubled man. Many people who are saved are still lost and will not admit that they have an issue. Ask yourself this question: 'What does God's Glory have to do with the pain I'm going through?' First of all, God wants the Glory and honor because you could not have done anything without Him. The more you give him glory in the midst of the storm, the more He opens you up. The three Hebrew boys sang praises to God, and He delivered them. Author Patrick L. Washington proclaims the truth, that God will do the same for you. Praying for God's Glory... Poems about Life also has a bonus short story in it entitled 'I Found Him.' 'I Found Him' is a story about a man and a woman named Beau Bill and Sister Martha. Who has lived there, lives on the outside of grace. As time progress in their lives, they fell away from God. One day Beau Bill felt the tug of God, which gave him the urgency to find God. As you read this story, I hope you will heed to God's tug and cry out 'I Found Him.'"
About the author:
Patrick L. Washington is the seventh child of the late Sammy Lee Washington and Patricia Washington. He was raised in the small town of Springfield, South Carolina, which is located outside the city of Orangeburg. Patrick received his high school education from Hunter Kinard Tyler High School, located just a few miles from where he was raised. Patrick fell in love with writing when he was doing research on a career for an eighth grade English project. It fueled Patrick to write over 4,000 poems and finish first in the SC Art Commission short story contest. Patrick is currently pursuing a degree in Liberal Arts. Patrick is a deacon in training in his local church. He is also a Sunday school and Bible study teacher. Patrick L. Washington has also been published in a number of anthologies and post cards, and his poems even saved a relationship. Patrick lives by the scripture found in Proverbs 18:16: "A man's gift maketh room for him and bringeth him before great men." He and his wife live in Simpsonville, South Carolina.
