Regina Smeltzer In Regina Smeltzer's debut novel, Deadly Decision (Harbourlight, paperback, $16.99), Bill Iver finds ghosts in his daughter's attic. Confused about the connection between body and soul, and hesitant to share his experience with his pastor, Bill seeks a worldly explanation which leads him down a trail of decisions that are deadly to body and soul.

Regina grew up in Ohio, where her childhood passion was reading. After graduating from high school, she became a registered nurse, married, and raised four children from three continents. She now lives and writes in Darlington, South Carolina.

Sarah Loudin Thomas It's 1954 in Sarah Loudin Thomas's debut novel Miracle in a Dry Season (Bethany, paperback, $14.99), and Perla Long and her daughter's arrival in the sleepy town of Wise, West Virginia, was supposed to go unnoticed. Bachelor Casewell Phillips has noticed, but he can't get past the sense that Perla is hiding something. As drought worsens, Perla's miraculous gift divides the town, placing the pair in the middle of a storm of anger and forgiveness, fear and faith.

Sarah is a fund-raiser for a children's ministry who has also published freelance writing for Mountain Homes Southern Style and Now & Then magazines, as well as The Asheville Citizen-Times and The Journey Christian Newspaper. She holds a bachelor's in English from Coastal Carolina University, and she resides with her husband in Asheville, North Carolina.
