A family road trip is supposed to be a lot of fun...unless, of course, you're the Heffleys. The journey starts off full of promise, then quickly takes several wrong turns. Gas station bathrooms, crazed seagulls, a fender bender, and a runaway pig -- not exactly Greg Heffley's idea of a good time. Adara could not remember the first time she had seen the ice dragon. It seemed that it had always been in her life, glimpsed from afar as she played in the frigid snow long after the other children had fled the cold. In her fourth year she touched it, and in her fifth year she rode upon its broad, chilled back for the first time. Then, in her seventh year, on a calm summer day, fiery dragons from the North swooped down upon the peaceful farm that was Adara's home. And only a winter child -- and the ice dragon who loved her -- could save her world from utter destruction. This new edition of The Ice Dragon is sure to become a collector's item for fans of HBO's megahit Game of Thrones.

The Walled City by Ryan Graudin
The Walled City of Hak Nam exists apart from the rest of Seng Ngai, as a lawless entity unto itself. It is populated by criminals and vagrants. Jin is lying low and posing as a boy until she can find her sister, Mei Yee, who was sold to a brothel owned by Longwai, drug lord and leader of the Brotherhood, the most ruthless gang in Hak Nam. And Dai is posing as a vagrant, biding his time until he can bring the whole thing down. The three teens form bonds that defy all of their rules of survival and must rely on each other in a race against time with escape as the prize. This contemporary YA novel based on a real walled city has a dystopian feel to it that will make it appeal to readers of both types of fiction.
