Help Us Win Paid Family Leave for U.S. Workers

May 13, 2014
DCA and many of its ally organizations are working hard to ensure that all workers in the U.S. have the right to paid family leave, so they can bond with a newborn baby or a newly adopted child or take time off to care for a child, spouse, partner, parent or grandparent after they have been hospitalized or at the end of their life. The need is particularly urgent right now in New York, where Time to Care, New York's paid leave coalition, is preparing to urge legislators to vote for a paid leave act for the state at a June 9 lobby day.

To help our politicians understand why this is such an important benefit, we need more stories like this one, to show how families are hurt by the lack of paid leave.

If you have ever wanted to spend time caring for a family member but were unable to do so because you could not afford to go without a paycheck, or if you took unpaid time off and suffered financially as a result, you can help by sharing your story.

Please email Donna Dolan, Executive Director of the New York Paid Leave Coalition, if you live in New York and have a story to tell about your experience with unpaid leave. If you live in one of the other 49 states or the District of Columbia, send your story to DCA's Elise Nakhnikian.

Share your story and help win this important benefit, for yourself and all the other hardworking people in America!
