Question: "Why can't I get rid of the ads that always show up when I go online to get my email?"
Answer: Without a doubt, you are familiar with the saying "There's no such thing as a free lunch." (Or, perhaps you know the grammatically incorrect version: "There ain't no such thing as a free lunch.") Guess what? This is true on the Internet also. In fact, it might be a tad worse on the Net these days. In the case of your email, you may already be paying a monthly fee for your Internet service, which includes email, yet, on top of that charge, you are subjected to ads on your email!
Whether you use free email services like Yahoo, Outlook.com (formerly Hotmail and Live Mail), Hotsheet or some similar service, when you go online to get your email, you'll see ads. Even paid services such as Comcast, RoadRunner, AT&T and AOL will often bombard you with ads when you go to get your email.
Some email services will allow you to minimize an ad while you read your email but never get rid of the ad completely.
The simple fact is that it costs a ton of money to provide email services and these various companies are just hoping you'll see an ad of interest, click on it, buy something and they'll get a small kickback.
The truth is, here at Keystone Computer Concepts, we're in the same position. Our server space for our websites and email is very expensive. Additionally, things like our webinars, while they are free for you, we pay a substantial monthly fee to have the software we use. We try to recoup these costs by placing ads on our website of products we recommend and/or use. If you click and buy, we get a small return. This "extra" money helps keep us afloat. The same is true with the companies which provide you with "free" email.
