Boys Volleyball, anyone?
The inaugural Boys Volleyball Program at Menlo-Atherton High School is off to a strong start this spring with its first ever Varsity and Junior Varsity teams. In support of this exciting beginning, the LLL is looking at ways to feed into this new program. If you would be interested in a boys volleyball program at La Entrada next spring, please fill out our short survey here.  In the meantime, consider attending the upcoming USA Volleyball Boys Clinic on May 8th at The Foundry in Redwood City. There will be a 2-hour coaches clinic and a 3-hour boys clinic led by John Kessel, USA Volleyball Director of Sport Development and 2013 Hall of Fame inductee of the American Volleyball Coaches Association. Thursday, May 7, 7:00 - 8:30 p.m.
M-A Performing Arts Center (PAC) Cafe

Parents often struggle with the dilemma of how to support their children in healthy sport participation.  The balance between sports, academics, arts, and downtime can present a challenge as families work to find what experiences will best prepare their children for the future.

How can parents support their children toward healthy participation in sports to facilitate a lifelong healthy lifestyle and to reach their potential? In this workshop, Dr. Smith will review current research and provide guidelines for parents and coaches to consider for healthy sport participation.

Dr. Steve Smith is a licensed psychologist and professor of clinical psychology in the PGSP-Stanford PsyD Consortium of Palo Alto University.  He served as the consulting psychologist for the Division I Department of Intercollegiate Athletics at UCSB and maintains a private practice (www.sparccal.com) where he works with school, club, and professional teams and athletes of all ages from all over the country.

M-A Parent Education Series events are free, sponsored by the M-A PTA, the Sequoia Healthcare District, and the Sequoia Union High School District. This event is open to parents, faculty/staff and community members.

For more information, email Charlene Margot, Founding Director, The Parent Education Series or call (650) 868-0590.

Classroom Volunteers Needed in September - An Hour a Week Could Change a Student's Life

We are looking for parents to begin volunteering in September to assist in K-4 classrooms an hour per week in East Palo Alto and eastern Menlo Park.  Either tutor students in a structured reading program or assist teachers in the classroom with individualized instruction much like you may have done in your own child's school.  These classes in the Ravenswood district have no parents helping and no PTA -- our volunteers make a real difference. Our organization provides orientation/training and coordinates everything. To learn more about us, visit us online.  Have questions or want to sign up?  Email Carolyn Blatman.

Sequoia Union High School District Open Enrollment Policy:
