Volunteer Appreciation Event
Please join us on Wednesday, June 5 at 3:00 pm in the MUR for our annual the Volunteer Appreciation event. As the year comes to a close, this is our chance to come together to celebrate our community, honor the incredible volunteerism of our school, and say farewell to those "graduating" from the district. All parents are invited to attend, so please join us for a little afternoon gelato in the company of friends. Click to view your invitation to the Volunteer Appreciation Social. See you there!
Thanks!
We have just finished Teacher and Staff Appreciation week and want to give a shout out to our amazing team! They knocked it out of the park with daily treats and surprises for our hard working, Star-testing teachers. Thank you to committee chairs Susy Politi and Patricia Sullivan, who have been working behind the scenes all year to show our teachers, staff and administrators how much we care. In addition to coming up with fun and creative teacher treats, they added the very well received "Letters for Our Teachers" project, complete with that big green mailbox (handmade by Patricia. Wow). Laura Glader and Ashley Banks also spent hours on letter writing, poster making, snack making, etc etc etc! One of the highlights of the week was a Tuesday lunch graciously provided by the Sakrison family and Quadrus. Their generous spirit, along with the impressive spread of delicious food, never ceases to amaze. Thank you, Sakrisons, for all you do!
Farewell...
Our term as your PTA presidents is coming to a close, and we want to thank you all for the opportunity to serve this school. We are especially grateful to all of the talented and hard-working committee chairs that lead all of the PTA programs throughout the year. Thank you all for your service. And with that, we hand the gavel to our incoming PTA presidents, Lisa Reid and Laurel Timpson.

Hot Lunch M/W/TH/F Day Chairs Needed for 2013-2014 - Tuesday is covered!
Hot Lunch Starts Wednesday, August 28! We cannot serve Hot Lunch without volunteers!!! Your help is needed so we don't have to limit the number of days we serve Hot Lunch.
We're planning ahead and need one parent to chair each day of Hot Lunch (Mondays through Fridays), for either the 4/5 and 6-8 lunch period, or both. In other words, eight time slots are open...you can choose one or more! D ay Chairing is not a difficult job. It involves organizing your schedule of volunteers and communicating the schedule to them (we recruit the volunteers) and communicating any needs/issues regarding our provider, Choicelunch, to Julia Massa, our Hot Lunch Chair. It's easy to learn and it is one of the most important volunteer positions we have as it is very difficult to run Hot Lunch without a Day Chair. If your child orders hot lunch, or if you would like to get a glimpse into the LE social scene, please consider chairing. Email Julia if you have any questions or if you're willing and able at gershenberg@gmail.com.

Reflections 2013 - BELIEVE, DREAM, INSPIRE
The theme for next year's Reflections has been chosen; BELIEVE, DREAM, INSPIRE, and it is not too early to start thinking about your creation for next year's competition. Reflections is a theme based art competition sponsored by the national PTA. This past year La Entrada students had great success and produced exceptional works of art, music, literature and film.
There are six categories; Film, Literature, Dance, Music, Art and Photography. So use this summer to explore an art form that you've never tried before or one that you just want to show off your talents. Entries are not due until October 2013. Believe, Dream, Inspire!

Please Host an AFS Exchange Student!AFS is the American Field Service. It's an international exchange organization, which both sends and receives high school students in over 40 countries. Have you ever wanted to learn more about another culture? Hosting an exchange student is a great way to learn about another country and culture right in your own home. Every year AFS exchange students from over 90 countries join a family like yours, attend local schools and participate as members of the local community. Living with a host family is an ideal way for exchange students to learn firsthand about American culture. The experience is a once-in-a-lifetime adventure for host families, too. As one family wrote: "We heard others mention that having children changes your life. While we do not have children of our own, we find it amazing how much we have changed by hosting five foreign exchange students. Being exposed to other cultures, personalities, and habits changed our thinking and perspective on life." http://www.afsusa.org/host-family/stories/featured-family/gambill/ For more information please visit http://www.afsusa.org/host-family/ . A local volunteer can contact you right away. Parent Volunteers Needed for M-A Admin Support 2013-2014 Is your 8th grader attending M-A next year? If so, please sign up to be on the administrative support volunteer list. There are no specific obligations - when the M-A Administration needs parent volunteers, we send out an email: if the volunteer opportunity fits in your schedule, you sign up; otherwise no need to respond. A sampling of events that use lots of parent volunteers are Arena Check-In, textbook distribution, schedule distribution, STAR test sorting, and AP test proctoring. Volunteering for Administrative Support a few times a year is loads of fun and a great way to meet other M-A parents and find out what's happening at M-A. To be placed on our list, please send us an email with your name to AdminSupport@mabearspta.org.

Choicelunch for Summer Camp
The school year is quickly coming to a close, and as teachers begin to pack up their books and students start to daydream of splashing the summer away, our Choicelunch chefs are whipping out their whisks and breaking out some brand new brag-worthy recipes. That's right, we're ramping up our menu this summer to include some fabulously fun new entrée choices.
Be sure to beat the heat with our cool new Egg Salad Croissant Sandwich! Our veggie lovers will have fun crunching into our hot Veggie Egg Rolls, savoring our Sweet Corn Tamale, and slurping down a creamy cup of Broccoli Cheddar Soup. Spice things up with our better-than-ever Carnitas Burrito, or try our new Authentic Cheese Pupusa.
Still fancy your old favorites? No worries, they're not going anywhere! In fact, we just raised the "salad" bar (wink, wink), as our crisp romaine lettuce now comes from our friends at Earthbound Organic. Which of these cool new lunch options will tickle your summer camper's fancy?
