Foods that Naturally Cool Your Body

We can all certainly agree that it is hotter than ever outside and that means our bodies are working harder to stay cooler. Ancient Eastern medicines, specifically both Indian and Chinese cultures, believe that specific foods have natural cooling properties and that is why we tend to eat these particular foods especially in the summertime. Add these foods to your meal plan and maybe you can even turn down the AC a bit. :)
Salads that use the following ingredients:
lettuce
celery
radish
cucumber
summer squash
broccoli
tomatoes
kelp
seaweed
Green, blue, and purple fruit, rather than red, orange and yellow
Green apples vs. red
Green grapes vs. purple
Spices such as:
fresh ginger
marjoram
cilantro
lemon balm
peppermint
white peppercorn
Lastly, hydration is the most important component to cooling. Besides water, Herbal teas and Vegetable broths both have naturally cooling properties.

According to a Vanderbilt University Medical Center study, "Ten to 15 minutes of laughter could increase energy expenditure by 10 to 40 calories per day, which could translate into about four pounds a year." What a great way to burn extra calories in this heat!!!!
