Cozy up and Keep Warm with Healthy Superfoods

What a winter!!! Even the warmest states have been affected!!! As the temperature drops we seem to want to fill our bellies with comfort foods that may not always be healthy and may be both high in fat and sugar. Instead, get that toasty feeling from superfoods: healthy eats that are loaded with nutrients, antioxidants, and immune-boosting powers that your body needs to power itself through cold weather. Here are some suggestions:

Steel Cut Oatmeal with Fruit

Ginger Tea

Hot Chocolate -made with dark chocolate and almond milk

Pumpkin Soup

Grilled Brussel Sprouts

Black Bean soup

Turkey Chili with Hot peppers

Avocado- Chop it up and warm it as a topping for other veggies

Baked Apples topped with cinnamon

Toasted Walnuts

Baked Butternut Squash Fries

Mashed Sweet Potatoes

Eaten hot, whole grains (brown rice, quinoa, oats, barley, buckwheat, millet,) give you instant warmth
